A new round of price hikes has arrived, with Panasonic and GTechnology raising the prices of copper-clad laminates (CCL) and electronic fabrics due to rising costs of copper foil and fiberglass cloth.
As the leader in ultra-low loss CCL worldwide, Panasonic has absolute pricing power. Since the demand for PCBs and CCLs in AI servers is 5-7 times higher than that in traditional servers, this wave of price increases will directly elevate the overall material costs of AI hardware.
Currently, the AI sector has a feeling of being squeezed from both ends: upstream prices are skyrocketing, while downstream cloud vendors and major model companies are engaged in intensifying competition, with debt financing costs remaining high (interest rates are elevated). It is no wonder that despite Nvidia's strong earnings report leading to a surge, storage and optical modules are not following suit! 🧐
