Odaily Planet Daily News Changxin Technology was listed yesterday, closing up 465.8% on its first day, setting multiple A-share records with a total trading volume exceeding 140 billion and a total market value reaching 3.28 trillion yuan.
Changxin Technology sets multiple A-share records in the first hour of its listing
Odaily Planet Daily News The domestic storage giant Changxin Technology landed on the Sci-Tech Innovation Board, breaking several A-share historical records on its first day: first, the first tech stock in A-shares with an opening market value exceeding 3 trillion, with an opening total market value of about 3.31 trillion yuan; second, taking the top spot in the Sci-Tech Innovation Board market value ranking, surpassing Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp to become the highest market value listed company on the Sci-Tech Innovation Board; third, the first stock in A-shares with a single-day trading volume exceeding 100 billion, with trading exceeding 1 billion yuan in the first hour after listing, expected to set new historical records for the day; fourth, the first new stock in A-shares with a trading volume exceeding 100 billion and a turnover rate exceeding 50%, with large trading volume and high turnover rate coexisting, the trading activity is unprecedented.
Odaily Planet Daily News According to The Information, citing insiders, a state-owned enterprise in Shanghai has begun mass production of domestically developed DUV (deep ultraviolet) photolithography equipment, marking a significant progress in the Chinese semiconductor industry’s push for domestic substitution.
It is reported that the enterprise plans to produce about five DUV photolithography machines by 2026 and expand to about 20 machines by 2027. Although there is still a gap with the production capacity of Dutch lithography giant ASML (which delivered 131 immersion DUV lithography systems last year), the breakthrough in mass production of domestic DUV equipment means that the Chinese chip manufacturing supply chain is moving further towards autonomous control.
Insiders state that these domestic DUV photolithography machines are planned to be delivered to China’s major chip manufacturers, including Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, Huahong Semiconductor, and storage chip manufacturer Changxin Storage.
As a representative enterprise of China's DRAM industry, Changxin Storage is expected to become an important application party for domestically advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. If domestic DUV equipment can achieve stable operation in manufacturers like Changxin Storage, it will further reduce the reliance of the Chinese storage chip industry on key overseas equipment.
Yudo Semiconductor (Yuliagsheng), Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp, Huahong, and Changxin Storage have not responded to requests for comment.

Analyst: SK Hynix's second-quarter performance is expected to reach a historic high
Odaily Planet Daily News Meritz Securities analyst Kim Sun-woo stated that driven by one-time investment returns and the rise in semiconductor prices, SK Hynix is expected to announce record second-quarter results. The analyst estimates that SK Hynix's pre-tax profit from April to June will exceed 100 trillion won, including 60.1 trillion won in operating profit and an investment return of 41.6 trillion won from its stake in Japan's Kioxia held through US private equity firm Bain Capital. This performance will surpass the company’s record of 58.8 trillion won in operating profit set in the first quarter. He added that DRAM and NAND storage chip prices increased by 30% and 49% respectively in the second quarter.
Earlier reports indicated that SK Hynix will announce its second-quarter performance report on July 29, 2026 (Wednesday).
Odaily Planet Daily News SK Group is advancing the acquisition of the former Lotte Le Méridien hotel site in Gangnam, Seoul, and plans to construct SK Hynix's headquarters building. Reports indicate that this site is about 1 kilometer away from Samsung Group's headquarters "Samsung Town," and SK Group chairman Choi Tae-won reportedly requested that the building be "5 meters taller than Samsung's."
The specific participation methods for the project have not yet been finalized, including options for land acquisition, project company equity, or pre-purchase of office buildings are still under discussion. (Asia Economy)

Odaily Planet Daily News A 26-year-old male trader at Hong Kong's Zhifu Management Services Company misappropriated the company's 50 million Hong Kong dollars as margin without authorization to purchase the Southern Eastern double-long Hynix ETF through leveraged financing.

The ETF once rose to a historical high of 193.65 Hong Kong dollars at the end of June, and subsequently declined over 72% by July 20, reaching 52.58 Hong Kong dollars.
Currently, the trader has been arrested by the police on suspicion of "theft." As the position has not been closed, the final loss will continue to fluctuate with price variations. (Tencent News)

Odaily Planet Daily News In response to the community's skepticism about the "meaning of holding 50% of tokens," EPIK creator Mando replied that he spent 3 years supporting the project and repurchased over 50% of the tokens with personal funds, rather than acquiring a large amount through airdrops.
Mando stated that he jokingly created EPIK during a live stream, subsequently investing seven figures to support the token long-term, and emphasized this approach differs entirely from that of some KOLs, creators, and celebrities who sell their tokens after obtaining them over the past three years.
He revealed that he did not conduct any repurchases on that day but has repurchased over 50% of the tokens cumulatively over the past three years and is considering gradually airdropping some tokens to community members and related users who have helped him long-term.

US Senate temporarily shelves the Clarity Act, earliest will enter voting procedures next week
Odaily Planet Daily News Senate Majority Leader John Thune has temporarily shelved the Clarity Act to prioritize the confirmation of government officials and the Russia sanctions bill. The Senate will also be occupied on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the funeral of the late Senator Lindsey Graham. Due to Senate procedural restrictions, it cannot process a controversial bill simultaneously; the Clarity Act may not enter voting procedures until next week, in the final days before the August 8 recess. Both parties are still seeking compromises on the ethical terms that restrict federal officials, including President Trump, from participating in crypto projects. The White House announced last week that Trump agreed to accept these terms, but Democrats felt they were insufficient, and both sides agreed to continue negotiations. If not passed this year, the industry will face regulatory uncertainties.
Odaily Planet Daily News Seiji Kihara, head of the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party's "Next Generation AI and On-Chain Finance Project Group," stated that the current maximum leverage limit of 2 times on cryptocurrency trading in Japan is too strict and should be relaxed. He said that market development requires liquidity and price discovery functions, and relaxing regulations would help restore liquidity in the Japanese crypto market and attract capital back to Japan.
Pennsylvania bill aims to prohibit gambling companies from making markets for prediction markets
Odaily Planet Daily News Bipartisan legislators in Pennsylvania proposed bill HB 2711, aiming to prohibit sports betting and other gambling companies from serving as liquidity providers or market makers on prediction platforms. This bill was introduced by State Representative Tarik Khan on July 22 and has been submitted to the House Consumer Protection, Technology, and Utilities Committee. The bill will also prohibit prediction platforms from contracting with entities typically engaged in gambling business or sharing revenue, covering parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, joint ventures, employees, and entities acting for the financial interests of other companies. Draftkings and Flutter have previously advanced market-making businesses, with Draftkings recently launching the DKeX exchange after acquiring CFTC-registered company Railbird Technologies. HB 2711 aims to set a minimum participation age of 21 and requires platforms to exclude self-excluded users, company employees, settlement source employees, and insiders. The bill also requires platforms to take commercially reasonable measures to prevent fraud, manipulation, and the abuse of material non-public information, and prohibits markets involving high school sports, minor participant sports events, personal health status, and death incidents. The proposal does not establish a licensing system, and law enforcement will be delegated to the state's attorney general. Pennsylvania also has a companion bill HB 2497, which aims to require platforms to obtain a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board license and impose a total tax of 22% on prediction platform revenues; neither bill has yet received committee votes or hearings.

Odaily Planet Daily News Milk Road AI analysts published an article on X analyzing Changxin Technology's stock price surge. They stated that in less than a year, Changxin Storage's global DRAM market share increased from less than 4% to about 7.7%-8%, and the revenue for the first quarter of this year grew by 719% year-on-year to 50.8 billion yuan. This growth is mainly attributed to Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron shifting more capacity to AI server storage (especially HBM), leading to a supply gap in the traditional DDR5 and LPDDR5 markets, which Changxin Storage took the opportunity to fill the low-to-mid-end DRAM demand.
However, Changxin Storage's current capacity is far from meeting global demand, with a monthly wafer capacity of about 290,000-320,000, lower than Samsung's approximately 630,000 and SK Hynix's approximately 500,000. Additionally, US export restrictions on advanced lithography equipment are also restricting Changxin Storage’s further expansion speed.
They believe that Changxin Storage will still find it difficult to enter the HBM market in the short term, thus not changing the supply-demand pattern of AI storage. Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron will continue to maintain advantages in high-profit products such as HBM, server DRAM, and LPDDR5X, and the global storage shortage cycle may continue.
Odaily Planet Daily News Goldman Sachs stated in its latest weekly report on the Korean market that although foreign capital has continuously bought KOSPI recently, and Alphabet has raised its AI capital expenditure expectations, strengthening semiconductor demand narratives, the Korean Composite Stock Price Index still fell by about 2% last week.
Goldman Sachs pointed out that foreign capital inflow is mainly concentrated in the technology sector, but the Korean market still faces medium-term capital outflow pressure, with foreign holdings in the semiconductor sector nearing historical lows. At the same time, the KOSPI's expected EPS for the next 12 months has been revised down by 0.4%, with the automotive sector facing the greatest adjustment pressure on earnings expectations.
In terms of financial leverage, the balance of retail investor financing in Korea has dropped from a peak of 25 billion USD to 22 billion USD, and the scale of leveraged ETFs has decreased from 53 billion USD to 26 billion USD. Goldman Sachs believes that AI capital expenditure remains a major support factor for the Korean stock market, but earnings expectation downgrades, low foreign holdings, and fluctuations in risk appetite may continue to amplify short-term fluctuations in the index.
