Every time I go to a different country's region, I basically bring some local specialty liquor. This time, I originally planned to bring sake from Japan, so I mainly looked at sake, but I don't really understand sake that well, and it was mostly through asking ChatGPT which ones are worth buying.

The ranking ChatGPT gave me without budget restrictions (in yen):

First place: IWA 5 (approximately ¥20,000)

Second place: Hojo Akita Junmai Daiginjo (approximately ¥40,000)

Third place: Kubota Manju (approximately ¥23,900)

Fourth place: Hakkaisan Three-Year Aged (approximately ¥20,000)

Fifth place: Dassai (high-end version)

Sixth place: ZAKU

I originally planned to buy IWA 5 or Hojo Akita, then ChatGPT suggested that I should not rush into it, but rather take a look at the whiskey section. It said if I could encounter Yamazaki 18 Year, Hakushu 18 Year, and Hibiki 21 Year today, their scarcity, appreciation potential, and international recognition are overall higher than most sake I currently see.

So I went to look at whiskey and didn’t buy any sake afterward. The ranking from ChatGPT is as follows:

Hibiki 21 Year ≈ Yamazaki 18 Year > Hakushu 18 Year > IWA 5 > Kubota Manju > Hakkaisan Three-Year Aged.
