The joint statement at the end of the Lake Lucerne Summit between the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

The first high-level committee meeting involving the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, held under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, has concluded its first round of high-level talks in Burgenstock, Switzerland. Participants included the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States of America, and the two mediators, the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Lake Lucerne Summit was held in a positive and constructive atmosphere. The meeting achieved encouraging progress, including the establishment of further technical negotiation mechanisms.

Based on the memorandum of understanding, the parties agreed to establish a high-level committee, which will provide political oversight of the mediation process. The chief negotiators of each party will regularly report to the high-level committee and lead several working groups focusing on nuclear issues, sanctions issues, and a monitoring and dispute resolution working group, to ensure the effective implementation of the memorandum of understanding and address other matters.

The high-level committee has agreed on a roadmap, aiming to reach a final agreement within 60 days and laying the groundwork for the immediate initiation of further technical negotiations. In addition, a communication channel has already been established among the parties to avoid incidents and misjudgments during the period described in paragraph 5 of the memorandum of understanding, with the goal of ensuring the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

Furthermore, the parties agreed to establish a conflict coordination group, involving all parties and the Republic of Lebanon, assisted by the mediators, to ensure the cessation of military actions within Lebanon in accordance with the memorandum of understanding. Technical negotiations will continue for the remainder of this week at the Burgenstock resort to discuss all issues.

The mediators will continue to exert their utmost effort to ensure that negotiations continue in a constructive atmosphere to reach a final agreement. The State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan express their sincere gratitude to the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their continued commitment to diplomatic and peaceful resolutions of conflicts. The mediators also further appreciate the ongoing support and valuable contributions from brotherly and friendly nations to the ongoing negotiations.
