Regarding artificial womb companies, CZ candidly stated: they have currently completed the second pregnancy testing stage with mice, and it is estimated that human application is still 5 to 10 years away.

But the key word here is human application, not human popularization!

In 5-10 years, human application should be possible, but potential applications, such as using artificial wombs as life-saving devices for premature infants, will enter a very cautious small-scale clinical application.

What everyone envisions, a complete replacement for natural pregnancy, may be a matter of several decades, and it certainly cannot be solved in the short term.

Newborns are not experimental subjects for drugs or devices. Mice can be tested, but human trials, once issues of neurodevelopment, immune system, and organ maturity arise, will bring about humanitarian concerns and various potential issues.

2️⃣ Even if technically feasible, ethical, legal, cost, and social acceptance will also slow it down. Who decides to use it? Are children being objectified? How to handle failed embryos? How to protect the rights of children conceived by machines? These cannot be forcibly promoted by capital.

3️⃣ The legal threshold is extremely high.

The rights relationships between embryos, fetuses, infants, mothers, fathers, and medical institutions will need to be completely rewritten and reconstructed, which cannot be completed in the short term.

4️⃣ The social acceptance threshold is extremely high.

Even if the technology is feasible, most people will initially not regard it as an ordinary method of reproduction but will see it as a medical assistance measure.
