Trump told the American media Axios that despite Israel's airstrikes on Beirut and Iran's threat of retaliation, a U.S.-Iran agreement to end the war is still expected to be signed on Sunday.

"The Israeli attack disrupted the process. It delayed the signing by several hours. It was supposed to be signed now. It's now scheduled for a few hours later," Trump said in a phone conversation with Axios.

He was shocked when advisers called to inform him about the Israeli airstrikes on Beirut and erupted in anger at Netanyahu.

"It's terrible, I can hardly believe it. Just an hour before we were supposed to sign the agreement," the leader was quoted by Axios as saying.

Trump claimed that this agreement with Iran would be beneficial for Israel as it would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, demand handling of nuclear materials, and allow for surprise inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities.
