⚡️ Watching the hustle and bustle, it’s actually very difficult to make money in a month丨Overview of major events in the crypto market in June—
Thanks to @PANews for the comprehensive calendar; it’s likely we still need to manage expectations in June.
1) The real mainline is still in macro:
June 5th non-farm payrolls, June 10th CPI, June 18th FOMC interest rate decision + Waller’s first speech.
Rate cuts are no longer the focus this month, as the market has already stopped betting on them; the real focus will be Waller’s first speech after taking office and the Federal Reserve's response.
Market is too familiar with Powell’s playbook, but Waller remains unknown; we’ll see if Waller continues to firmly support rate cuts + balance sheet reduction.
2) Another core variable this month is the unlocking of $HYPE.
HYPE will unlock about 9.92 million tokens, worth nearly 600 million dollars; this is the most critical aspect to watch in June.
However, HYPE cannot be understood as a typical altcoin unlock; it has been re-priced by the market from a Perp DEX token into a combination asset driven up by ETF capital + buyback mechanism + real trading income.
Especially after the ICE CEO publicly mentioned Hyperliquid, Wall Street’s attention has clearly been drawn in.
No need to think; there will definitely be bloodshed on the day of unlocking!
Additionally, a small piece of advice: HYPE is already considered the strongest project of this round of altcoins; if it can’t withstand the unlocking, the remaining projects that only have FDV, unlocking schedules, and community declarations will have no chance for value discovery—selling would be the best option!
3) Another line worth noting: compliant trading entry points.
Coinbase has launched the first batch of perpetual stock index futures, CME plans to introduce Nasdaq crypto index futures, and both Japan and South Korea are leaning towards stablecoins.
Retail investors love chasing stories, while institutions prefer buying channels; this line may not immediately stimulate coin prices in the short term, but it could be the direction that really makes big money in the coming years.
4) Several projects have announced to cease operations this month.
You will find it quite astonishing that a bunch of small narratives supported by points, airdrops, L2, restaking, blockchain game socialization, and Bitcoin ecological extensions from the previous round have already entered the inventory clearance stage.
This is the hardest part for long-tail narratives and high FDV shell projects now:
A large number of tokens are unlocking, market-making requires money, operations require money, KOLs require money, and communities require money, but there is no income, no users, and no on-chain retention.
This includes several projects that previously seemed impressive; as far as I know, they are already beyond saving and have harmed many KOLs; I won’t specify which ones, but such incidents will become more frequent in the future.
5) Additionally, the World Cup starts this month; this kind of global event will surely be a celebration for prediction markets.
Humans inherently love to bet, getting tortured while watching markets during the day and then tortured again while watching games at night—that’s probably the main theme of June!
