A small opposition, just for the sake of science popularization.
No matter how many passports Sun Yuchen has, it does not mean that any country cannot investigate him, arrest him, prosecute him, or convict him.
A passport is just a nationality and travel document. Whether a country can take judicial action against a person mainly depends on whether that person is within the territory of that country, whether their actions violate the laws of that country, whether there is a jurisdictional connection to the case, whether there is an extradition treaty or judicial assistance, and it has nothing to do with holding a basic passport.
A diplomatic passport does not automatically grant immunity. Diplomatic immunity derives from the appointing country's designation + the receiving country's recognition + the diplomatic status still being valid + applicability within a specific jurisdiction. According to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, diplomatic personnel enjoy protections such as immunity from arrest or detention and criminal jurisdiction in the receiving country, but it also clearly states that diplomatic personnel still have the obligation to respect the laws of the receiving country and that the immunity can be waived by the sending country.
In plain language, diplomatic immunity does not exempt them from judicial jurisdiction by the sending country.
More critically, Sun Yuchen's so-called diplomatic status in Grenada at the WTO is not "globally applicable immunity". In the context of the WTO, the host country is Switzerland, and it only applies to Swiss territory.
Furthermore, Sun Yuchen's term as WTO Ambassador representing Grenada ended on March 31, 2023.
So the statement that "no country can directly search, detain, or convict Brother Sun" is incorrect.
