I just finished looking at the CPI data yesterday, and today the PPI data is out. Of course, compared to the attention given to CPI, PPI gets much less, but it's important to know that both CPI and PPI are key leading indicators in the Fed's most important PCE data.
Today's PPI data is also off the charts, with a previous value of 4.3%, market forecast of 4.9%, and the published data being 6%, with core PPI being the same.
If CPI is the inflation indicator that the market looks at first, then PPI is the indicator of generating costs and some service prices, while PCE is the core indicator for the Fed's policy judgments.
So after looking at CPI and then PPI, you can roughly know the trend of the PCE for the month. And PCE is currently one of the main references for the Fed to decide whether to cut interest rates.
