Due to high gasoline prices, the United States is considering suspending the federal gasoline tax.
The top energy official in the United States stated that the Trump administration is open to suspending the federal gasoline tax to lower retail gasoline prices.
"This administration supports all measures that can lower gasoline prices and reduce the cost of living for Americans," Energy Secretary Chris Wright said in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Wright repeatedly stated that he cannot guarantee whether gasoline prices will drop below $3 per gallon (3.8 liters) later this year or rise above $5, although the United States and Israel are waging war against Iran, he claimed that the energy production outlook in countries like Venezuela is "very bright."
According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the current average gasoline price in the United States is $4.52 per gallon, with a federal tax of about 18 cents per gallon.
