Today XChat is available for download. After trying it out, I can say I am extremely disappointed.

Although I already knew that XChat is essentially a derivative of X Chat in terms of functionality, I really cannot understand the significance of separating a product that is almost 100% overlapping with X Chat. It has not added any new features, has nothing remarkable about it, and is riddled with bugs.

Almost all the features in XChat can be implemented in X, and the only feature I was somewhat motivated to try, "Delete all hidden private messages," can only delete 20 private messages at a time. What kind of "delete all" is that??

Moreover, some groups have been completely lost; you can still see them on X, but they are nowhere to be found on XChat. I completely fail to understand the significance of releasing such a thing separately.
