The biggest surprise at CITY WALK today is discovering that the art museum is featuring the art exhibition "Like Flowers, Mountains and Seas" by Jia Wei.
The last time I mentioned Jia Wei, it was during a conversation he had with Tuo Buhua, witnessing a person reborn from suffering describing to us what impermanence is and what freedom is after experiencing impermanence.
So seeing his works, and truly seeing the "like flowers" within them, still leaves me shaken. That feeling is like watching that conversation again, but in a different language.
This time, he uses color, structure, and emotion.
You will find that the "like flowers" in his paintings always occupy a very subtle position:
On one side is danger: huge teeth, an open mouth, structures as deep as abysses;
On the other side is lightness: she is dancing, flying, even slightly ignoring these dangers.
This tension is actually not simple.
Many artists portray confrontation, emphasizing conflict, tearing apart, or even destruction;
But Jia Wei does not.
He seems to be saying: danger is always there, but people can choose not to respond to it with fear.
Like flowers remain stable; Jia Wei is telling us that the world is fluid and chaotic, but people can generate order from within.
Therefore, I really like this sentence that Jia Wei wrote in his introduction:
One's own "like flowers, mountains and seas," true order is never given by the outside, but grows from the heart.
These mountains and seas, those vibrant beings, merely wish to tell you that the strongest existence always carries the clarity of a first encounter with the world.
These mountains and seas, these open giant mouths, these vibrant beings seem to repeatedly remind one thing:
The world never becomes simpler; it’s just whether you have the ability to live lighter within it.
Good night🌙
