SK Hynix submitted Form F-1 registration statement to the US SEC, aiming to complete the listing of American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) within 2026.

The ADR listing simply means that a foreign company does not directly bring its domestic stock to the United States for re-listing, but instead, packages it into certificates that can be traded in the US through banks, allowing American investors to buy this certificate.

This form is actually very similar to what many of our friends understand as US stock RWA; essentially, it is repackaging assets that originally circulated in another market into a set of investment rights that are easier for investors to purchase.

In other words, SK Hynix, listed in Korea, will repack a portion of its stocks through banks and custody systems into securities that can be traded in the US market, enabling American investors to participate in equity investments in SK Hynix without needing to open an account in Korea directly.

However, the more important aspect of this is not just the addition of a trading channel, but rather that SK Hynix wants to leverage the surge in high-bandwidth memory demand brought about by this round of AI to reposition itself from a traditional storage chip company in the Korean market to being priced in the US capital market.

Because in the Korean market, SK Hynix is often viewed as a cyclical semiconductor company, but in the US market, it is more easily labeled as a "core beneficiary of AI infrastructure," which changes the valuation logic, investor structure, and liquidity.

In other words, this is not just a fundraising effort, but more like a shift in identity on a capital market level. What SK Hynix seeks may not just be funding, but rather whether the US market is willing to re-evaluate SK Hynix.

Of course, this is not purely positive, because if it ultimately corresponds to issuing new shares, existing shareholders will face dilution, so the market's short-term focus will be on financing scale and share dilution, while the medium-term market will look at valuation reassessment and expansion of funding channels.

In plain language, what SK Hynix is doing now is not simply going to the US to sell stock and raise money, but instead, they want to take advantage of the peak of AI hype to use American money, American liquidity, and the American valuation system to achieve a higher price revaluation for themselves.
