This post about soda music has unexpectedly garnered much attention and discussion. From an investment perspective, I have observed several different types of people, which basically represent different investment styles.
A: Maintains curiosity and immediately goes to try it out
This type of person is likely to make money in new things and new opportunities—though they may also easily fall into traps, but overall, it won’t be bad.
B: Feels a bit strange or even disgusted but still tries it out, finds it good and directly switches
I belong to this category; intuitively, I feel that I could never switch from QQ Music, which I have listened to for so many years, with many years left on my membership, along with so many playlists and listening preferences, etc.
But I observed an anomaly: "soda music grew from 0 to 140 million users in 3 years," which is rare against the backdrop of my belief that "the music landscape has been established," so I tried it, and I was very shocked.
This made me gain insights and reflections about ByteDance, the value of algorithmic recommendations, product design, and many other aspects, learning a lot of things.
C: Instinctively feels it's just garbage, so does not go—dogmatic, easily misses new opportunities, especially ignoring the shocking user growth of soda music
I used to or sometimes still make this kind of mistake; those who slap their thighs in frustration in investments often belong to this category.
D: Not only ignores data but also maintains a sense of superiority, thinking "everyone else is drunk while I am sober."
This type of person is most likely to remain stagnant, working in the same place, position, or task for many years; the benefit might be focus, but in investments, they often refuse to admit losses even when experiencing negative results.
Of course, among this type, there are some odd ones, such as those who not only don’t try but also step on others; they possibly have some small issues.
As for the most bizarre, I even saw someone say, "I maintain reproductive isolation from those who use Douyin and soda," which is somewhat narcissistic, arrogant, and sealed off to the point of mental illness.
