Recently, I spent some time in Southeast Asia, and every time I'm overseas, I have a strong feeling: Crypto is finally not just for "investment," but "really usable," and the cost-effectiveness is extremely high;
Compared to the previous situation where I could easily lose hundreds or thousands of U when making transactions on-chain, in Vietnam, eating out, buying coffee, and taking taxis, I can handle most things in Phuket for about 100 U, which feels very magical;
When paying, the merchants have VietQR on their tables. My previous options were only three: exchanging cash (troublesome and hard to control the amount each time), using a card (transaction fees + some small shops do not support it)
Having only U → giving up on spending;
This time, I tried using Bitget Wallet to scan the merchant's QR code, and the experience was very "counterintuitive": I paid in USDT, and the merchant received Vietnamese Dong, with no step requiring me to "exchange currency" first;
This process was actually quite seamless, as if nothing happened: scan → confirm → success. For the user, it feels like using a local bank app, except my account holds U, and the exchange rate is also good.
What I saved was time and energy, and the convenience was greatly improved.
So I feel that in the future, PayFi is not just about having a U card; the real breakthrough has never been the narrative, but rather the ability to pull out your phone and make a seamless payment with your money in your wallet or CEX while abroad. That is what true PayFi is:
I like this slogan: Everyday Finance App.
