Emotional Interaction — AI + Blockchain + Wearable (Watch) A New Idea

This afternoon, I met with a team preparing for their second round of financing. The team mainly focuses on games, which are somewhat like a combination of Dynasty Warriors and Monster Hunter. It looked decent, but I wasn't particularly interested. Just when I thought it was nothing special, the team showcased a peripheral application based on the game, an AI emotion system that uses facial capture. This system can capture users' expressions to diversify NPC dialogues during gameplay.

At this point, I suddenly had a bold idea: if this system could be upgraded to emotional interaction, the potential scenarios and ceiling would greatly increase. The first thing that came to mind was multi-branch videos. Many of you might know that a movie can have several different endings, like the famous "I Am Legend."

Now, there are quite a few movies or short dramas that have started using multi-plot, multi-branch modes, but they require viewers to make choices rather than playing naturally, which can affect the viewing experience. Then I thought, what if, while watching a show, the camera could capture the viewer's facial expressions and use expression management to influence the plot's direction, in conjunction with different branches?

However, I realized that not many people would want to have their camera on while watching a show, and this kind of privacy issue is very challenging. The project team suggested using audio, but audio is also a part of privacy and is similarly difficult. Even with audio, it’s hard to capture the user's breathing. At that moment, I suddenly thought about using a smartwatch or wristband, which could still capture the user's emotional changes through heart rate, blood oxygen, blood pressure, breathing, body temperature, etc. Moreover, it could effectively avoid privacy issues.

So, if this can be resolved, AI emotional interaction combined with a watch or wristband could replace cameras and microphones to obtain users' emotional information. Of course, aside from video, there are many other areas where emotional interaction can be utilized, such as the pressure of button presses, mouse movement speed, etc., all of which can be part of the emotional feedback applicable to games.

In video communication, emotional interaction can more naturally assess both parties' emotional changes through users' expressions and voices. For example, when you are chatting with your girlfriend, AI could determine whether you are lying, if you are genuinely happy, or if you are just being dismissive.

When you are typing, the force and frequency of your keystrokes can also indicate whether you are writing with passion or frustration, whether it flows smoothly or is filled with struggle. These are all feedback that emotional interaction can provide.

The introduction of blockchain also plays a very important role in this system, including but not limited to:

  1. Identity and Device Binding

Provide users with a decentralized identity (DID). Wearable devices (or SDKs) generate a biometric feature to prove that this characteristic comes from the same user without exposing their real identity. Device proof certificates are stored off-chain, with only hashes stored on-chain. This is equivalent to biometric KYC.

  1. Data Authorization Contracts

Similar to OAuth, but programmable, auditable, and revocable. (Not elaborating further)

  1. Data Privacy and Sovereignty

Perform inference and feature extraction locally, such as HRV features + arousal scores in 30-second windows. Encrypt and store the features, generating a contentHash. Only the contentHash + timestamp + authorization reference is written on-chain, serving as an immutable proof of "data generated at a certain moment." Use ZK to prove "satisfying a certain condition" without exposing the data itself.

  1. Incentives and Settlement

Contribution mining, users can choose to join a "labeling program" and earn tokens based on valid contributions. The key is "valid," using device proof + anti-cheating scoring. Even users contributing data in interactive content can earn tokens.

  1. Auditing and Compliance

No further explanation needed.

This combination satisfies the logic of blockchain + AI + hardware devices, and this logic can indeed be implemented in the real world. Of course, this also means that the company's games are not the focus; the game is at most a "DEMO" of an emotional interaction system. However, the imagination of this emotional interaction far exceeds that of a single game. If realized, a tenfold increase in valuation should not be a problem.

Moreover, for the company, there is no need to create many games and videos; they only need to develop an SDK to allow more games, videos, or social software to integrate. This design excites me just thinking about it.
