Supported by the Ethereum Foundation's "Ethereum Everywhere" initiative and jointly operated by SNZ and ETHTAO, the Hong Kong Ethereum Community Hub successfully held its first offline gathering before the opening on January 24. This marks the debut of Asia's first physical Ethereum hub and initiates a new tradition of "monthly meetups" for the Hong Kong Ethereum community.

On the day of the event, over 150 participants attended, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The Ethereum Foundation team engaged in deep discussions with local developers, researchers, entrepreneurs, institutional partners, and seasoned enthusiasts. This signifies the Ethereum Foundation's commitment to actively participating in the ecological development of the Hong Kong and Asian communities through more intensive and direct communication.

Focusing on the forefront, discussing the future: A feast of knowledge combining depth and breadth

The event kicked off with a welcome speech by Gavin Wang, Chief Investment Officer of SNZ Holding. Following that, Adrian Li, the Ethereum Foundation's Asia Liaison for Ecological Development, delivered a trilingual keynote speech in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, clearly outlining the strategic development landscape and future opportunities for the Ethereum community in the Asia-Pacific region, emphasizing Ethereum's commitment to deepening its ecological presence in Asia and valuing Asian developers.

The subsequent three core agendas precisely focused on the most discussed technologies and business frontiers in the current ecosystem:

1. The Compliance Path of Programmable Privacy: The co-founder of SNZ Holding will host a thematic discussion on privacy technology, deeply involving the Ethereum Foundation's Asia-Pacific head of institutional privacy, the chairman of the Web3 Development Committee at Cloud Summit Financial, and the co-founder of Brevis, focusing on the application of programmable privacy technology within a compliance framework, dissecting the boundaries and pathways of technological application.

2. From Protocol to Practice, Unlocking the Future of RWA: Industry-leading project representatives from Huaxia Fund (Hong Kong), Chainlink, HashKey Group, and Asseto gathered to engage in deep dialogue about the cutting-edge opportunities and regulatory prospects of institutional-grade asset tokenization, exploring the differentiated performance of the RWA framework in Hong Kong and globally.

3. A New Chapter of DeFi on Layer 2: Leaders from five top projects including Spark, Taiko, Morpho, SuperReturn, and Cap Money will share cutting-edge practices and core insights on Layer 2 ecosystem development, deeply analyzing the key pathways for protocol iteration and innovation, focusing on the efficient upgrade of the Ethereum DeFi ecosystem.

Beyond the event: Building the foundation of the Hong Kong Ethereum community

In addition to keynote speeches and roundtable discussions, the event included a deep communication segment, providing participants with an efficient platform for exchanging ideas and deepening understanding. The Ethereum Foundation team took this opportunity to listen to the genuine demands of community builders, achieving a two-way transmission of cutting-edge perspectives and grassroots voices. At the end of the event, participants toured the Hub venue, and through an hour of on-site visits and free discussions, they bridged distances and laid the groundwork for future collaborations, effectively playing the role of an industry connection hub.

In the future, the Hong Kong Ethereum Community Hub will hold regular monthly gatherings on different themes, while also providing membership services, mobile workstations, and independent office rental services, equipped with multiple event spaces for members to use for free, continuously nourishing the Asian community and creating a stable, open, and productive collaborative platform to help Hong Kong solidify its leadership as an Ethereum innovation hub in Asia.
