Which is more important, traffic or sharing??

Yesterday, when chatting with @OKX_Yuki, I was asked a question: the tweet I posted in 2025 received the best response and the highest traffic. This question itself is not worth discussing, but it is a topic I have wanted to talk about for a long time but have not found the opportunity to do so.

After X changed its algorithm, many friends have been reaching out to me, saying not to post too much content daily, as it would be penalized by the algorithm, that long articles should be posted as articles rather than regular tweets to gain better traffic, and that comments in the comment section should not be replied to casually, as replying too much would lead to algorithm penalties, and so on. I really appreciate the concern from my friends, but my answer has always been consistent.

I have never cared about what the rules of X are, nor do I care if my content will be penalized. I care even less about reduced exposure. What I care about most is whether the content I write can help myself first, and then whether it can help other friends. If my content is good enough, as long as X does not block me, it will continue to spread.

Some friends might say, "You are just talking from a position of comfort; you already have so many followers, and any post you make gets decent views. You can say you don't care." But when traffic is low, no one sees my articles, and without traffic, even good content can be buried.

I agree with this. I strongly agree on the importance of traffic, but compared to traffic, I care more about the content itself. I have always believed that as long as the content is good and the right methods are used, there will still be a lot of reads and shares. A couple of days ago, @Pxstar_ posted an event about $BTC, which I believe everyone knows about. Many might have forgotten the content, but everyone should remember the BTC share. This article had 1.32 million views and 4,134 shares, while Ratsxp had very few followers when he posted this tweet.

Some might say, "That's because he can afford a Bitcoin. If I could afford it, I could also get that many views and traffic." I agree with that, but it cannot be denied that Ratsxp cleverly thought of "with great rewards come great courage," and this is also part of the content.

During the #OKX New Year's Eve dinner, I shared my views with a few friends around me. To put it simply, what is the ultimate goal of every friend sharing on X?

If your goal is to get a share of the advertising fees from Musk, to gain more traffic, then following X's rules is absolutely correct, but your output may change due to concerns about the algorithm.

Many friends know that since 2023, I have been doing text translations for every Federal Reserve meeting. It didn't matter before, but according to the current rules on X, I would likely be heavily penalized. If I were a traffic-first person, the best method would be not to translate or not to do real-time translations, but rather to wait for the best traffic time to post everything at once. This might be the best for me personally, but what about friends in front of the screen who are not very good at English?

Many friends also know that I often post articles late at night. At that time, the reading volume and traffic in the Chinese field are extremely low. I could easily use the "scheduled" function to post these written texts the next day when traffic is better. This would actually be simpler for me, but it also means that waiting for sudden events while watching the U.S. time zone would be meaningless.

Many friends see my tweets as news. What I can provide is not just the content of the news itself; I almost always accompany all news with my own interpretations. I try to answer any questions from friends in the comment section. This has been my "habit" for many years, not for traffic or reads, but to deepen my own understanding while giving back as much as possible to the friends who support me. This is more important to me than traffic.

In fact, this is like trading. I am definitely not a trading-type content sharer, and I find it hard to help friends make money in the short term. What I rely on is everyone's "habit." Many friends often say they check my tweets when they see market fluctuations to see if I have said anything.

This is a great honor for me, and it is also the purpose of my sharing. This is both content and influence. So I dare to say, no matter how many followers you have now, if you can "serve" them well, you can consider the traffic issue later. It's like many friends have private groups; you must serve the first group well before you can serve the second group. If you start with ten groups, it is likely that you will find it hard to serve most friends well.

I can only speak for myself; I can only represent my own thoughts. My followers are my responsibility. They follow me hoping I can provide them with practical help in certain areas, not to earn advertising fees from them.

I will also have commercial advertisements, which already makes me feel a bit sorry for my followers. Therefore, what I can do is to output my content better. This content is what I want to output, not what X needs me to output.

I am definitely not a "whore" trying to build a reputation, nor do I want everyone to ignore X's rules. I just want to talk to everyone about the most essential question: what is your purpose in outputting content on X?

My answer is that I like to share. Sharing is a part of my life. This is not my job but my hobby. It is my understanding of my own investment and my return to the friends who follow me. I only consider whether my content is appropriate and absolutely do not consider whether it is bad for traffic. Of course, this is just me and does not represent anyone else.

If I must say there is a selfish motive, I have another answer: what I want is not traffic but influence. And the transmission of content is my influence.
