Many friends do not like the small size of Singapore, but I really like it.

In Singapore, as long as there are friends organizing a gathering, we can basically meet within half an hour, no matter where we are in Singapore, we can get home in about half an hour. Some may think this is not good, but for me, it greatly improves efficiency.

When people say it's small, they are merely referring to the lack of entertainment options, but in reality, during the years I have lived in Singapore, I have almost traveled "abroad" every month. If I want to go somewhere for fun, I can just fly there. When I was in Shanghai, I often arranged to meet friends in Pudong for dinner, which took 2 hours of travel. This kind of "largeness" is at least a burden for me.

Although Singapore is small, daily life is generally fine. For dining, I go to Chinatown, Bugis, and Orchard Road. If I want seafood, I go to East Coast. When I'm in a good mood, I go to Clarke Quay. In fact, I often go to food courts to eat, occasionally ordering takeout with Foodpanda, and for shopping, I use Taobao and JD for shipping. Daily necessities can be found at FairPrice and Lazada.

After arriving in Singapore, I personally feel much healthier. I lived in Shanghai for 20 years without playing badminton even twice, but now I play three to four games a week with friends in the circle. The prices are cheap, and it's indoors with air conditioning. There’s a swimming pool right downstairs from my home, and for a period, the first thing I did every day after waking up was to go downstairs to swim for 15 minutes before going back upstairs to write. It's both healthy and safe.

Singapore is indeed hot; walking under the sun in summer makes you sweat immediately, but as long as there is a shaded area, it feels very comfortable. However, because it is hot, I find that I actually prefer to travel to places with winter every year. My clothes are always T-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops. This is interesting; in Singapore, it’s hard to tell from someone's attire whether they are wealthy.

I know many traditional big shots in Singapore who wear ordinary T-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops while just hanging out. In Singapore, at least from what I see, there is very little comparison among people; everyone is quite low-key. Unless you are visiting someone’s home, when you meet outside, everyone looks similar to their neighbors.

In fact, for any country, size is not the main reason to judge its quality. The most important thing is whether your life in that country is comfortable, whether it can protect you and your assets, and whether it supports the work you do. If you live in a country where you cannot sleep peacefully every day, then no matter how big that country is, it is still a cage for you.
