"During Trading"

AI summarizes in 5 seconds.

"In Trading, So-Called Discipline is a Scam - Pickle Cat Shares"

Before I became profitable in trading, I had three account blow-ups.

People often say, find a strategy, cultivate "discipline," and then you can make money.

But this most common and absurd advice in trading has misled the most people.

Because discipline can never be cultivated like a habit through "practice." You cannot improve your discipline like you would in sports through repetitive practice.

False discipline may seem effective before real pressure arrives, but once the pressure hits, you will completely collapse.

If your mindset is the weakest link in your entire system, then no strategy will work for you.

The harsh truth is: if life hasn't (repeatedly) knocked you down, you don't have enough mental resilience to replicate the disciplined spirit of the traders you admire.

Their strategies work because they possess an inner resilience that most people have yet to acquire.

The calmness you see in profitable traders is not something they "deliberately practiced."

It is forged after enduring enough pain, to the point where their old instincts have no choice but to perish.

Their discipline comes from pain, not determination.

You can make money through luck and false discipline, but you absolutely cannot hold onto that money in the long term.

So, how can you truly cultivate discipline? 👇

Discipline cannot be "gradually" cultivated over time.

It happens very suddenly and intensely, usually when you are at your most frustrated, at which point your past self is finally destroyed.

It's like arguing with someone. Some people are cold as ice, bluntly pointing out the other person's pain points. While others may break down and cry.

The difference is not in "self-control."

The reason is that those who remain calm have already experienced situations far worse than this, so the current predicament is trivial to them. Chaos cannot shake them, not because they "learned patience," but because they are accustomed to facing greater storms.

So, if you are currently at a low point in your life, do not waste it—opportunities for transformation in a person's life are rare, and a low point is that opportunity.

If you waste all your emotional energy attacking the world or alienating those who love you, you are wasting the energy that should be used to improve yourself.

Focus your energy on your own growth. Spend quiet moments sitting down and truly facing your shame and fears.

First, write down the 30 things you fear or feel most ashamed of (Da Yu: I fear completing such a long assignment ^^)

This may sound trivial, but it is actually significant because the "everything is fine" version of you never has the courage to face this list. Many people think the secret to trading lies in having more strategies, more macro research, and more knowledge.

They are wrong. It is entirely about stepping outside the realm of trading to recognize and accept your own flaws, your inner demons.

Stop studying other people's successes!

Study how they navigated their life's low points: people love to praise someone for being smart or disciplined, and then they mimic their habits as if doing so will magically work.

It won't. You cannot replicate success because success is half dependent on luck, timing, and advantages you do not possess.

But you can learn from how they collapsed and got back up:

How did they cope with losing everything?

When most people would give up, how did they persevere?

How did they transform pain into strength instead of self-hatred?

These are the genuine, replicable aspects.

The courage, wisdom, or discipline to face difficulties, pain, and setbacks are honed in adversity, not something that can be bestowed by genes, practice, talent, or privilege.

The path to success is different for everyone. But the process of experiencing life and death, rebuilding, and becoming stronger is often the same: rising from the ashes.

And this is the only part that can be replicated.
