I just finished watching the interview story of @SeiLabs founder @jayendrajog, and it was truly inspiring. The entire conversation was high-energy, with clear and logical reasoning, and his understanding of #Web3 cut straight to the essence. We have translated part of the video interview into Chinese for everyone to learn from! 🧐

Jayendra Jog is a typical "Silicon Valley tech guy." He attended a high school in California where everyone aimed for Stanford or MIT, then went to UCLA to study computer science. He interned at Facebook and Pinterest, and eventually dove into Robinhood, working on the most challenging yet crucial backend systems like KYC, clearing, and securities lending, laying a solid foundation in financial technology.

In 2021, the GameStop incident exploded. Retail investors used Robinhood to buy GME frantically, and the platform suddenly restricted trading. At that moment, he was in the system backend, witnessing the servers going off with alarms, regulatory calls coming in one after another, and users raging. At that moment, Jayendra realized: the existing financial system is not designed for ordinary people. It seems efficient, but once the power switch is in the hands of centralized institutions, ordinary people have no freedom to buy or sell.

After that, he began to ask himself: Can we build a truly open, fast, and accessible trading infrastructure? Not just swapping tokens and telling stories, but like building roads, making the underlying trading engine extremely fast and stable.

In 2022, Jayendra and his partner Jeff Feng (another geek from traditional finance and tech circles) founded @Sei_Labs. They didn't chase trendy topics like "metaverse" or "AI + Web3," but focused on one thing: optimizing blockchain scalability and transaction execution speed. They directly transferred the high concurrency, low latency, and matching engine techniques learned from Robinhood to the public chain, which is now #SEI.

At that time, many people laughed at them: "Another public chain? It's 2022, and you're still working on infrastructure?" But they firmly believed in one principle: In the early days of the internet, people also laughed at "boring protocols" like TCP/IP and HTTP. But without them, where would Amazon and WeChat come from?

In the end, #SEI raised $35 million, and the token's market value once soared to $2.7 billion. During the interview, what made them most proud was not the achievements they gained, but that many small merchants in Southeast Asia are using USDC for instant transfers on Sei, freelancers in Latin America are using it to avoid their country's hyperinflation, and developers are building real decentralized exchanges on it, without intermediaries, without freezes, and without "Sorry, system maintenance."

Jayendra recalled that leaving Robinhood in 2022 was the boldest and most correct decision of his life. He is a cautious and conservative person, afraid of failure, afraid of having no income, and afraid of being labeled as "another crypto scammer." But he later realized: the biggest risk is not failure, but seeing a problem and not daring to take action to improve and fix it.

Their entrepreneurial journey has greatly inspired me. Many people think they need to wait until they are "ready" to start a business: wait until their technology is stronger, wait until they have more experience, wait until their savings are thicker. But the truth is—you will never be fully prepared. Real growth happens the day after you quit your job, when you pitch to strangers for the first time and no one pays attention, and when you have to smile and hold team meetings for three months without being able to pay salaries.

If you are also writing CRUD code at a big company, but there’s always a voice in your head asking, "Does this really matter?" then I want to tell you: don’t wait. Problems won’t disappear on their own, and opportunities won’t wait for you to be "perfect."

Sometimes, leaving a good job is the moment your career truly begins. The crypto world is not a casino; it is a blank slate for those willing to redefine money, trust, and freedom with code, logic, and courage. Jayendra's experience deeply impresses me; he could have stayed in his comfort zone, but he chose to change and take a leap of faith. This kind of determination and courage, along with dissatisfaction with the status quo, profoundly moves me, and it is also one of the key reasons I am optimistic about #SEI! 🧐
