I just saw the summary of the conversation between Xi Jinping and Trump. There are many similarities between the Chinese and American statements, but some subtle differences represent the positions of the two countries.

Trump's press release mainly discusses the restoration of normal trade between China and the United States, especially regarding soybeans and fentanyl, which have been the most contentious issues recently, as well as the Russia-Ukraine conflict. It also includes mutual verbal commitments to visit each other's countries. From Trump's wording, this appears to be a victory in his trade war.

In contrast, the news from CCTV, aside from mentioning Ukraine, has no common points with Trump's statement. Instead, it emphasizes the Taiwan issue, which was not mentioned in Trump's release. This aligns with the current triangular relations between China and Japan, China and the U.S., and the U.S. and Japan. However, regarding the U.S. withdrawal, there is only a brief mention that "the U.S. side understands the importance of the Taiwan issue to China."

Therefore, in comparing both sides, CCTV's content highlights the U.S. "recognition" of China's stance on Taiwan and subtly indicates that China and the U.S. should strengthen cooperation (in trade). The U.S. emphasizes Trump's "victory," which can stimulate voters.

Overall, both statements serve to provide an account to their respective citizens and reflect the key propaganda points of their governments. At least it proves that China and the U.S. are currently still in a temporary "honeymoon period."
