I see many friends asking how they manage to make a living without selling anything but still have money to use. Many may not know that I have always had a job up until now; I have been in a working state and have been employed, receiving a salary every month. Although I moved from a tech company in Shanghai to Singapore in 2023, I am still working (with a monthly salary), and I have continued my investment, incubation, and consulting work that I started in 2019.

The main reason I don't mention these aspects is that they are not really related to my analysis of the market and data. Those who have met me offline should know that I have a wide range of interests. I still have a modest income every month, which includes my job earnings, DeFi earnings, bond income, and other revenues. Some of it is used for living expenses, some for reinvestment, and some is saved.

Although the income is not much, managing life with some frugality and doing regular investments is still feasible. Since the bear market in 2022, I have maintained about 20% cash on hand because I have monthly income that covers my expenses. Therefore, I have no plans to sell my core assets. Once I enter a trading state, I easily become anxious, so I prefer not to deal with it.

The essence of holding on is not that I am particularly skilled, but rather that I clearly separate my life and investments. I work hard every month, and once I earn enough for living expenses, there is no need to touch my investment funds. When my living needs are met, my demand for money decreases. As long as I am not actively seeking to consume beyond my means, the desire to sell core assets for cash is not strong, which allows me to hold on better.
