Camp Network is arguably the project that has faced the most backlash and criticism from the community among recent "profit-taking" projects.

Last night, the L1 project Camp Network, which raised as much as $30 million and aims to address the chaos of AI copyright, officially launched its mainnet, while also opening token trading and airdrop claims.

Originally, many "profit-takers" were hoping that "after a few months of hard testing, at least they could exchange it for a meal of pig's feet," diligently interacting with various ecological cooperation projects on the testnet to "accumulate matches." However, the outcome was a plot twist—almost everyone was left empty-handed.

Below, Odaily Planet Daily will help you understand why, from the moment the airdrop query was opened, Camp Network became the target of criticism from the "profit-taking" community.

Most users lack airdrop eligibility, and those eligible must pay $10 for registration

Complaint Point 1: A large number of early users lack airdrop eligibility

On August 22, Camp Network announced the launch of the airdrop query. According to community feedback, unless they had previously minted an NFT or invited enough friends, the vast majority of early users who diligently interacted with numerous tasks on the Camp Network testnet found themselves without airdrop eligibility.

A certain "profit-taker" found multiple accounts on the Camp Network testnet without airdrop eligibility.

According to community statistics, the total number of wallets participating in the Camp Network testnet interaction reached 6 million, with approximately 280,000 active wallets in the Summit Series, but only 40,000 addresses met the airdrop eligibility.

Complaint Point 2: Eligible users must pay $10 for account registration

A large number of "profit-takers" expressed dissatisfaction due to being "left empty-handed," which had already caused significant frustration in the community. Unexpectedly, even the few users who obtained airdrop eligibility were required by the project team to pay an additional fee—specifically, they had to pay 0.0025 ETH (about $10) as a registration fee to confirm their claim. This made Camp Network the first mainstream L1 airdrop project to require users to pay to participate.

However, as negative emotions in the community quickly escalated, Camp Network urgently announced in the afternoon that it would cancel the airdrop registration fee and promised a full refund to users who had already paid 0.0025 ETH.

Under community pressure, the official canceled the airdrop registration fee.

Complaint Point 3: Strict KYC requirements

Even if one is fortunate enough to obtain airdrop eligibility, they may still be unable to successfully claim the airdrop due to stringent KYC verification. According to feedback from users who obtained airdrop eligibility, the strict KYC identity verification, which requires using a camera, was more frustrating than paying the $10 registration fee. The KYC provider blocked VPNs and certain countries, resulting in many international users being excluded.

TGE only unlocks 20%, and users must first buy tokens on exchanges to pay Gas fees

Compared to the large number of early users being excluded, the community is even more dissatisfied that during the TGE, they must first spend money on exchanges to buy tokens in order to pay Gas fees to claim the airdrop. As shown in the image below, an early user received 100 CAMP tokens, but only 20% could be unlocked at launch, which is 20 CAMP, currently priced at $0.09, worth less than $2.

To claim tokens, users must first buy tokens on exchanges to pay airdrop Gas fees, but the exchanges still cannot withdraw tokens.

Even more absurdly, to claim the airdrop, users must first buy CAMP tokens on exchanges to pay the Gas fees for the Camp Network mainnet, but some exchanges that listed CAMP still cannot allow withdrawals (as shown in the image below from Bitget exchange).

Bitget exchange still cannot withdraw CAMP tokens.

It is evident that the Camp Network project team has imposed multiple restrictions in the airdrop design, making it difficult for the vast majority of early users to successfully claim their tokens. Such a highly controlled token mechanism inherently implies significant uncertainty and risk; whether choosing to go long or short, everyone needs to think twice and avoid acting impulsively due to temporary emotions or short-term market conditions.
