By the seaside, I met an elderly Chinese man in his seventies—

An Anhui native who has lived in Auckland for over thirty years; he said he can no longer remember what his hometown looks like.

The old man endured many hardships in his youth:

His parents passed away early, and as a teenager, he went south to Guangzhou and Shenzhen to work as a laborer, nearly losing his life several times along the way;

Later, he was sold to Hong Kong, and in his thirties, he had to flee after offending someone;

Eventually, he came to New Zealand with a few fellow villagers, introduced by some British people, becoming an early migrant.

Here, he finally settled down.

Now, in the quiet of his remaining years, he spends his days fishing, sunbathing, and watching the clouds and rain change—

In his words, there is nothing but gratitude.

He said that even though he experienced many hardships in his youth, he still feels that he is a blessed person.

So you see, his definition of being blessed is quite profound!

What is being blessed?

It is certainly not about never falling, having a smooth journey, or living a life free of troubles; it is not about avoiding pain or never stumbling.

Rather, it is about those moments after falling, after suffering, after being pushed into darkness by fate, where you are still alive, still believe, still soft, and still grateful.

Without experiencing the world, one cannot understand human nature; when faced with difficulties, one blames heaven and others, mourns the spring and laments the autumn, fails to understand the rules, does not see cause and effect, and only looks at their own likes and dislikes. Such a person will be trapped in their own narrow view for a lifetime, tormented by trivial matters.

True blessings come from being able to accept and grow from those few experiences of falling, not blaming heaven, not self-destructing, not being consumed by darkness, but instead awakening, understanding, gaining enlightenment and clarity,

that is the greatest blessing!

I have experienced one bout of wandering, two bankruptcies, and one imprisonment;

Now, whenever I think back to the hardships I once faced, I feel a heart full of gratitude.

I do not hate anything or anyone; I even find myself liking or pitying them in my heart. Without those experiences, I might be nothing now, still lost in the pursuit of wealth, unable to extricate myself, only to fall into a deeper abyss at some stage.

So I also thank those years, those people, and all the stories that have taught me so much;

Experience is the greatest blessing!

Thankful for the experiences, thankful for Crypto, thankful for everything!
