Taking advantage of the time waiting for a friend in the morning, I spent a long time in the cemetery. This is the second time I've visited the cemetery since I came here.
They are often one of the quietest places in the city:
No noise, no disturbances, tranquil and silent, only the sound of the wind rustling the leaves and the sunlight streaming down.
Tombstones sometimes have a lot of information, many will say: 'dearly loved' 'ever remembered'. If you look at the names, birth and death years on the tombstones, you might see touching details: a pair of siblings who passed away very young, a woman who lived to be 103, a father who disappeared during the war…
I feel that this cemetery is like a life without the filters of social media, a place where time is materialized.
You stand there, and without needing to say much, you become aware that each of us will ultimately return to silence.
This sense of existence, this sense of limitation, makes people cherish their current lives even more.
