🚨 Linea is about to launch its token, but it seems no one is looking forward to it丨Because its outcome can only be summed up in one word! —

I spoke with an insider, and indeed, Linea is actively preparing for the token launch.

During 2023-2024, I mentioned @LineaBuild multiple times in my tweets. Among the top 20 chains in terms of revenue generation, BASE and Linea are the only two protocols that have not launched a token. Especially in the last six months of last year, when their growth rates outpaced all top L2s, Linea carried a lot of hope.

We look forward to seeing projects with strong funding backgrounds come in to drive more innovation, but as I heard in a lyric from the extraordinary talent of Asia, "Jiaozuo" —

What kills people is not setbacks, but expectations.

The more you expect something big from it, the bigger the disappointment it will deliver.

Let’s summarize some of its questionable operations over the past two years —

1️⃣ Starting from the testnet, various tasks piled up, creating four tiers of task NFTs, and finally adding a paid mint version, which is currently uncertain if it has any use.

2️⃣ After the mainnet launch, they changed the gas mechanism to lure DeFi participation, and halfway through, they introduced POH human verification, which costs money but doesn’t guarantee success.

3️⃣ Game weeks and NFT weeks are even more unnecessary to mention, forcing players to participate in new activities, with many aspects requiring additional payments. Later, they changed the mechanism, directly diluting the LXP weight of early users. To obtain equivalent LXP value, you had to invest more money, or else you would just wait to be diluted.

4️⃣ The witch hunt was even more significant; the officials previously stated that passing POH would count as a real user, but when it came time for the witch hunt, they checked everyone without exception, leading to a large-scale KYC resubmission for early users, essentially wasting the gas spent earlier.

Let me say this: I don’t dislike marketing, nor do I dislike rules, but I hate operational methods that treat human nature as a bargaining chip for repeated testing.

The rhythm of Linea's increasing costs → sudden rule changes → user cleansing has directly wiped out the serious players.

Returning to the token launch, it’s truly a bizarre situation!

1) In 2024, a friend asked about TGE in DC, and the team said the Odyssey is almost over, you know what that means.

2) In November 2024, Linea announced the establishment of an association and confirmed the token launch in Q1 2025.

3) In February 2025, Linea officially stated that TGE was postponed, needing optimization in technical design, community collaboration, and legal compliance, and promised to announce the token economics soon.

4) In May 2025, the community inquired again, and the officials promised, "We are in the final stages."

5) In July 2025, Linea announced that the token economics would be revealed by the end of July, stating that the TGE timing was not confirmed, and the specific time depended on external factors, but "it won't be delayed too long."

With all this, it wouldn’t be fair to say Linea lacks strength; behind it is ConsenSys, with substantial financial resources, and a natural traffic entry through MetaMask.

Yet, they manage to change everything from events to TGE to public relations, making every step feel like a makeshift operation!

I do not deny Linea's true value; this project has been PUA-ing for so long, working on compliance and decentralization for so long, cleansing for so long, and filling ordinary players' gas bills with dense charges, so in the end, it should be a big success, and it must be a big success.

However, looking at the little LXP I have, combined with MetaMask's current decline, the overall mediocrity of L2s makes it feel unrealistic;

For early players, the proportion of LXP needed to achieve a big success may make breaking even a luxury.

Overall, the community, team, operations, ecosystem, expectations, and timing seem to be completely disconnected; where should the points of expectation lie?

Therefore, regardless of how future airdrops and token prices turn out, for me, Linea has already been a systemic failure, and the tone of its operations determines that this project has only one outcome: heading towards death!
