What’s the most outrageous thing I encountered on Xianyu?

Last year, my friend and I went to a scenic area, and the nearby restaurants were too expensive. My friend suggested checking Xianyu to see if there were any cheaper places nearby.

And we really found one! There was a place offering a Xianyu two-person meal for thirty yuan, and it was all-you-can-eat!

We were too lazy to run around, and it was indeed cheap, so we decided to give it a try and placed an order.

After we bought it, the shop sent us a navigation link, and we drove for five minutes to arrive at a small temple.

When we got to the entrance and called, someone came out after a while. We told him we bought the two-person meal on Xianyu and asked where to eat. The guy directly asked us for our names and birth dates. We were puzzled about why he needed our birth dates just to eat, but figured it might be a local custom since it was a sacred Buddhist place, so we awkwardly gave him the information.

Then the climax came. The guy went into the temple for a bit and came out, directly giving us a conversion certificate and a precept certificate, telling us to use these to receive our vegetarian meal.

WTF? Vegetarian meal? Conversion certificate? What the heck!

Of course, to avoid wasting food, we still went to eat. To be honest, we might have been a bit hungry, and the food turned out to be quite delicious.

But there’s one question I still can’t figure out: Am I a monk now or not? Did eating a meal make me a monk?

The conversion certificate and precept certificate are still in my drawer!
