I always think of the line from the movie "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk":
If a bullet’s going to get you, it already has.
If a bullet is going to hit you, it has already been fired.
This line indeed carries a sense of fate that is hard to forget.
The decisions you make, the paths you take, the people you meet, in a certain sense, are like that bullet; before you realize it, it has already been fired and is flying on its trajectory,
you just haven't perceived it yet.
This is both fate and awakening:
You cannot stop a bullet from hitting you, but you can choose to live more meaningfully before it does.
