The Bitcoin 2025 conference officially opened in Las Vegas on May 27, Pacific Time, with speakers on the second day including: U.S. Vice President JD Vance; Strategy founder Michael Saylor; and Eric Trump, the second son of Donald Trump.
Government Officials' Speeches
U.S. Vice President Vance stated that the current U.S. government will focus on three main areas: widespread adoption, legislative support, and clear regulation. "The work done by the Trump administration on digital asset policy is just the beginning; Bitcoin finally has a supporter and ally in the White House. We want our fellow citizens to know that cryptocurrencies and digital assets, especially Bitcoin, are part of the mainstream economy and will exist for a long time. We know that the Chinese government does not like Bitcoin. So we should ask: why? Why does our number one competitor resist it so much? Since China is moving away from Bitcoin, perhaps we in America should move towards Bitcoin."
Regarding widespread adoption, Vance stated, "About 50 million Americans hold Bitcoin, and I believe this number will soon increase to 100 million." He added that "cryptocurrency is a hedge against Washington's poor policies, soaring inflation, and discrimination in the private sector."
On the recently passed Senate "GENIUS" bill, Vance remarked, "In this administration, we believe that stablecoins do not threaten the integrity of the dollar; on the contrary, we see them as a multiplier that enhances our economic strength."
U.S. Congressman Byron Donalds stated that he would vote in support of the "Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Act" because "Bitcoin has proven to be a store of value."
New York City Mayor Eric Adams called for the abolition of the BitLicense cryptocurrency licensing system issued by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) and proposed the issuance of Bitcoin municipal bonds called "BitBond."
Bilal Bin Saqib, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency, stated that the Pakistani government will establish a Bitcoin strategic reserve, which will be held permanently.
Donald Trump's two sons, Don Jr. and Eric Trump, stated at the Bitcoin 2025 conference that Bitcoin's price could exceed $170,000 by the end of 2026.
Business Leaders' Speeches
Miles Suter, Bitcoin Product Lead at Block, stated in his speech that Block will launch Bitcoin payment features for merchants using Square POS and held a Guinness World Record challenge for the most Bitcoin Lightning Network payments in one day at the summit.
Adam Back, co-founder and CEO of Blockstream, said, "I believe Bitcoin is still in its early stages, but more and more mainstream participants are starting to get involved. It is beginning to become the foundation of global finance," and noted that Blockstream will focus on infrastructure expansion, enterprise tools, and ecosystem design in the future.
Matt Cole, CEO of Strive, called on Meta, under Mark Zuckerberg, to add Bitcoin to its balance sheet.
