This number should be incorrect; China's figure should be higher. However, overall, when looking solely at the export ratio, China indeed does not rank at a high level.

But what is low for China is imports, and the resulting one trillion yuan surplus is something the West finds unacceptable.

Looking at this further, it can be said that China has been making foreign investments (capital deficit), which leads to a trade surplus. This type of investment includes purchases.

In fact, the solution to this problem is quite simple; investments can still be made, but buying gold would suffice instead of U.S. Treasury bonds. At this point, gold would offset the surplus.

Of course, there is a little trick here: purchases made by the central bank do not count as commodity imports. It's quite simple, right? Just have institutions like Industrial and Commercial Bank of China buy it, and that’s it! Buying 2 trillion dollars' worth of gold a year would definitely classify you as a country with a deficit.
