The municipality of Fornelli in the Molise region of Italy will establish a monument for Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin (BTC).

On April 23, the Fornelli municipal government posted on Facebook that it plans to unveil the Satoshi Nakamoto statue on May 1. The announcement did not disclose specific details about the monument, but the municipal government stated that the work was designed by artist Mattia Panoni and funded by the local government.

"As an administrative body, it is crucial to value all new ideas proposed by young people, and it can even be said to be fundamental," said Fornelli Mayor Giovanni Tedeschi.

According to the local government, Fornelli has "the highest Bitcoin adoption density in the world" among its approximately 1,800 residents. Other regions have also attempted to attract tourists using BTC or other cryptocurrencies, including El Salvador's Bitcoin beach area and the city of Zug in Switzerland, which accepts cryptocurrency payments for various local goods and services.

Presenting the Faceless Figure through Art

Since the release of the Bitcoin white paper in 2008, the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto (whether an individual or a group) has remained one of the biggest mysteries in the crypto space.

Numerous artists (including cryptocurrency investors and creators from other fields) have attempted to represent this pseudonymous creator through sculptures and digital images. These works commonly avoid clear facial features and sometimes depict a figure wearing a hoodie or operating a computer.

The announcement stated that the monument will be unveiled on May 1 at Piazza Umberto I in Fornelli.
