The competition among modern nations is multifaceted, involving financial competition (such as currency), economic competition, but ultimately, it still cannot avoid territorial disputes.

What is the use of territory, you ask? Territory means resources, it means ports, it means living space for people, and human resources are fundamental to great power competition.

Why was the United States able to defeat the United Kingdom? Because the U.S. mainland covers 9 million square kilometers, while the British mainland is only 240,000 square kilometers. Not to mention, it doesn't even compare to Texas, let alone California.

With vast land comes abundant resources and a large population.

Of course, the value of territorial disputes in the modern economy is far lower than in the past, but it still exists. Otherwise, do you think you are smarter than Putin or Netanyahu or Erdogan?

Robots? It's still early. For a long time, robots will merely supplement humans. Why? The human "robot" has evolved over millions of years, and its superiority in "general problem-solving" and "adaptability to the physical world" is exceptional. While robots have already surpassed humans in certain specialized fields, as a general platform, they still have a long way to go to catch up with humans.

The land taken by Russia will eventually be returned; it's just a matter of time. This is something that both China and Russia understand. They just don't say it.
