🧐 Research Report | edgeX_exchange: Can the DEX ecosystem, perfectly integrating high-performance public chains and order book trading, rewrite the brilliance of Hyperliquid?
(Attached edgeX Points Alpha rewards program)
Recently, if you were to ask who the most outstanding player in the field is?
If Hyperliquid claims second place, no one dares to claim first;
As a decentralized derivatives trading platform, it has attracted a large number of traders' attention with the rapid rise in the price of its platform token HYPER, its high-performance on-chain order book system, and a smooth decentralized trading experience.
Especially with its large-scale airdrop of the HYPE token, which not only enhanced the platform's liquidity but also sparked a huge response within the community.
Hyperliquid is not the only player in this field.
Another platform worth paying attention to is @edgeX_exchange.
1️⃣ Basic Introduction to edgeX Exchange —
edgeX is an on-chain financial infrastructure focused on liquidity and trading, aiming to combine the capabilities and performance of CeFi with the security and transparency of DeFi to create a complete on-chain financial system.
The edgeX team members come from Barclays, Morgan Stanley, Bybit, Huobi, etc., and are developing multiple applications based on trading and liquidity. Currently, there are two launched products: edgeX exchange and http://edgeX.fun.
edgeX exchange is the first MVP, adopting an order book model, aiming to provide users with the experience and trading features of a centralized exchange while allowing for self-custody of assets.
edgeX is incubated by Amber Group, a leading global provider of digital asset trading, asset management, and infrastructure. As a core market participant, Amber Group is also one of the largest liquidity providers and validators for mainstream exchanges and hundreds of crypto projects.
2️⃣ Core Advantages of edgeX Exchange —
Speaking of edgeX's advantages, I recommend trying out their mobile version, which supports downloads in over 100 countries on Android, while iOS can currently be downloaded via TestFlight;
The professional trading UX & UI and CEX-level super trading engine are very comfortable to use;
This is the biggest advantage compared to Hyperliquid, as a large user base consists of mobile players. This differs from our perception, as experienced players only make up a small portion, while the majority use mobile as their entry point into the crypto world, making the app's advantages significant.
Another aspect is self-custody of funds; edgeX adopts an Ethereum rollup architecture, where users' funds are settled and custodied on Ethereum. Only users possess their private keys, and the platform itself cannot access user assets. 'Your keys, your assets' means that in extreme cases, users can bypass the platform for forced withdrawals.
Some professional trading customization features of edgeX include:
1) The first to integrate MPC social login functionality in a mobile application
2) Supports up to 100x leverage trading
3) Supports cross-chain deposits and withdrawals
4) Supports multi-account systems,
5) CEX-level risk limits, mobile take-profit and stop-loss, quick order placement, and other contract features
3️⃣ Comparative Advantage Analysis with Hyperliquid —
Overall, edgeX has made the user experience more decentralized compared to Hyperliquid;
The Layer2+ZK-Rollup architecture aims to enhance blockchain (especially Ethereum) scalability, reduce transaction costs, and accelerate transaction processing speeds. This architecture allows developers to create customized Layer2 solutions based on functional needs while leveraging Ethereum's security.
It uses Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP) technology to verify transactions, reducing the burden on the main chain while ensuring the fairness and authenticity of each transaction.
In terms of security, Hyperliquid has not yet open-sourced, so the market views Hyperliquid as a single-chain solution, which is a disadvantage for users seeking fund security, especially after the recent DEX incident.
Additionally, edgeX is based on Ethereum's layer one security, while Hyperliquid's current fund entry relies on a cross-chain bridge on the Arbitrum chain, with security based on trust in its platform's multi-signature. In contrast, edgeX's user funds are self-custodied on Ethereum L1, thus giving edgeX a higher security priority than Hyperliquid.
According to documentation, edgeX V2, a high-performance public chain specifically designed for DeFi, is also under development. The current high-performance order book will be opened as an on-chain module for more DeFi applications, and it will also have better composability with other EVM applications. Ethereum remains the largest liquidity ecosystem for DeFi, and after the departure of dYdX, a leader in the derivatives track is needed.
These are all areas where edgeX currently excels over Hyperliquid;
Conclusion —
1) edgeX is worth paying attention to, especially since it is the only product in this hot market that has not yet issued a token but offers an experience and liquidity comparable to Hyperliquid;
2) Recent Activity: The edgeX Points Alpha season is currently underway. If you missed Hyperliquid, you can pay attention to edgeX trading to earn early points;
