Research on Sending Network
Depin is one of the mainstream narratives in this round. Recently, I came across an interesting sending network and conducted some research.
- What is Sending?
According to the official definition: Sending is the communication layer of Web3 - establishing a low-cost, efficient, private, and distributed unified communication/payment/trading internet.
This is quite interesting when fully implemented. For example, from a communication perspective, when Musk and Trump opened space, the system crashed when the number of people reached 200,000, perhaps because they didn't choose the right underlying communication layer. Companies like Agora abroad and a listed company in China called Shengwang are working on this underlying technology.
So, it can also be said that Sending is the "voice network" of Web3, covering not only communication but also payment and trading. Sending is the PaaS layer for IM communication, or middleware.
- Why do we need Sending?
The security and privacy of IM software are major concerns. For example, these days, the CEO of Telegram was arrested, so the government will definitely want to extract the private communication content from the servers. I don't care, but some troublemakers might feel uneasy.
Sending Network is an IM middleware that uses decentralized node transmission of messages, completely avoiding centralized servers and ensuring that information is not stored by nodes. Users do not need KYC, only need to log in through DID, ensuring both identity privacy and communication security.
- What are the specific applications?
IM messages: Like any existing messaging application (such as WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger), Sending Network allows users to communicate one-on-one or one-to-many with other network members. It features security, anonymity, and privacy.
Rich media: Text chat (basic functionality of end-to-end encrypted text messages for private or group conversations), voice and video communication, live streaming, and AMA.
- How is SendNetwork implemented?
This involves the content of Depin. In simple terms, you buy a router from them and use it for mining. Technically, your router acts as an edge node for the entire p2p network, and you can earn income when nearby users need to use your node.
Web2 internet is the largest centralized IT infrastructure, with key resources such as IP and DNS controlled by a few organizations. Web2 internet users and developers face high server and bandwidth costs. Previously, iQIYI had a dark history of stealing user bandwidth. Now users can share their own bandwidth for mining.
Decentralized communication network: Your router becomes a node in this network, responsible for transmitting and processing data in the network without relying on any centralized servers.
Distributed computing: Bandwidth sharing - routers provide available idle bandwidth in your home for Sending Network. This bandwidth is used for data forwarding and verification, ensuring the security and efficient operation of the network.
Resource contribution rewards: Through these contributions, your router node will receive corresponding token rewards. In other words, your router can help you make money while performing daily network functions.
Imagine your router as a small server that helps process information in the network and pass it on to other users. Each time it completes a task, you will receive a small reward. These rewards are paid in the form of cryptocurrency and can be viewed and withdrawn at any time.
Currently, this router is open for registration, but its cost is not confirmed.
- Where is Sending currently at?
The Sending router has not yet been put on sale. The alpha test network was just completed recently, so it has not been listed yet. I estimate it will be launched by 2025, and it shouldn't miss this bull market.
There is already a Sending Me IM client available, and an invitation code is required to participate in the test preview.
