The Ethereum mainnet gas fee has dropped to the lowest level in five years. How will this affect supply inflation?
According to data from http://ultrasound.money, the supply of ETH has increased by 0.2% since early April, reaching 120.286 million, an increase of 223,000, approximately 600 million USD.
Currently, the supply of ETH is still lower than the level at the September 2022 merger (peak supply was 120.5 million).
If the current gwei level is maintained, ETH is experiencing supply inflation, with the supply increasing by 0.71% annually, while the supply inflation rate for Bitcoin during the same period is 0.83%.
According to the model from http://ultrasound.money, it still predicts that by the end of this year or early next year, the supply of ETH will drop below 120 million, continuing to shrink.
