The lobbying system in the United States is quite an interesting institution. Interest groups (associations, companies, wealthy individuals, etc.) can influence the operation of the government, including legislation (Congress) and administration, through financial means.
Therefore, the political system in the United States is a delegated proof of stake (DPoS) system. Ordinary people elect representatives, such as legislators and the president, through regular elections to represent their will. After that, the specific legislation and administration are no longer related to ordinary people, but are generated within the three systems (presidency, two houses of Congress, and judiciary).
The lobbying system uses money and other interests to influence the three systems mentioned above. Of course, this generally does not involve directly putting money in a briefcase, but rather through entertainment, campaign donations, and other means. The annual lobbying industry is approximately $3.5 billion.
The principle of one person, one vote is essentially equivalent to pricing the blood chips of every adult - this is because by default, if you do not give this person, regardless of gender, the opportunity to speak, they may try to overthrow the existing system through some form of violence. However, this pricing of blood chips is limited to the election of representatives.
Subsequently, the real power game and exchange of interests still operate between the government and business. At this point, ordinary people cannot intervene, at most they can argue on social media. Of course, if you are dissatisfied with a representative, you can simply not vote for them four years later.
Conversely, some legislation may not necessarily represent the interests of ordinary people. For example, during the pandemic, medical groups spent a huge amount on lobbying fees but received returns of over a thousandfold, as the majority of the stimulus checks were spent on vaccines. Is this really in the interest of ordinary people? Now the issue of vaccines causing cancer has emerged.
This is the real secret of a capitalist country:
The rulers are still political and capital elites.
The blood chips of ordinary people also have a price, but currently, this proportion is too small.
