The smart phone Saga developed by Solana Labs has recently been highly sought after in the market. However, the reason is not because the phone has a great consumer experience advantage, but because multiple Solana ecosystem projects such as Bonk (BONK) have generously airdropped Saga, making the additional airdrop income from purchasing Saga exceed the original value of the phone. This phenomenon has been jokingly referred to by many community members as a modern version of "buying a casket and getting a gem."

Last weekend, Solana officially announced that Saga phones are completely sold out in North America, with only a small amount of remaining stock in Europe.

A check on e-commerce websites such as eBay reveals that the resale price of Saga on eBay has exceeded $2000, several times higher than the official price of $599 (which was once $1000, but was reduced due to poor sales), and the shipments are mostly in Europe and Oceania.

So, if lucky users were able to purchase Saga at the original price before the Bonk craze, how much profit can they make now? According to the statistics of Odaily Planet Daily, the current confirmed additional income from owning a Saga phone mainly consists of three parts: airdrop profits, mining profits, and appreciation from resale.

Next, we will analyze the three different sources of income step by step to see how much money can be made by buying a Saga phone at the original price.

Airdrop Income

First is the most anticipated airdrop income. All new users can receive a Saga Genesis Token when starting the Saga phone, and can use this to claim up to 30 million BONK, currently worth about $536 (the peak value on December 15th was as high as $1024.8).

In addition to BONK, holding Saga can also receive airdrops from several other projects (including exclusive minting qualifications):

• Call of Saga: In May of this year, Claynosaurz and Saga jointly launched the NFT series Call of Saga. Users holding the Saga Genesis Token have exclusive minting qualifications, and the current floor price of Call of Saga is 22.25 SOL, worth about $1700.

• Access Protocol (ACS): Airdrop amount of 100,000 ACS, worth about $256.

• Solend (SLND): Details are unconfirmed, but its founder Rooter has confirmed that airdrops will be made to Saga holders;

In addition, mainstream projects in the ecosystem such as Jupiter (JUP) and communities of meme tokens such as MORY and GECKO have discussed airdrops for Saga holders, but there is currently no official announcement.

In summary, as an excellent credential for Solana ecosystem OG users, Saga holders have become the priority choice for many Solana ecosystem projects when making airdrops, and it is expected that more projects will choose to follow suit in the future.

Mining Income

Mining income mainly refers to the ability of Saga phone owners to mine the decentralized wireless communication network Helium Mobile (MOBILE) and the decentralized storage network ShdwDrive (SHDW). MOBILE, with its several-fold increase in value over the past month, has already become a hot topic in the community.

First, it should be clarified that participating in Helium Mobile mining is not a privilege of Saga, but the developer of Helium Mobile, Nova Labs, announced last year that they would provide SIM cards and a one-month free trial to Saga phone users, allowing Saga to "freeload" directly.

According to feedback from users participating in Helium Mobile mining, in October, mining could produce 8000-9000 tokens per day, but with a large number of users joining recently, the mining income for individual users has decreased to around 2000 tokens, and is still decreasing at a rate of about 9% per day.

Taking the average of 8000-2000 as 5000, if Saga holders effectively utilize the one-month free trial to mine Helium Mobile, they can earn approximately 150,000 MOBILE in the past month, worth about $900 (just a rough estimate).

As for ShdwDrive (SHDW), its official account on X platform has confirmed that users holding Saga can easily participate in SHDW mining by simply opening the app, but social media currently lacks disclosure of the income situation for this mining.

Resale Income

The last potential source of income is resale. As mentioned earlier, the resale price of Saga on eBay has exceeded $2000. Sellers generally note whether the BONK airdrop has been claimed. Even excluding the value of the BONK airdrop, the resale price of Saga still has a significant profit margin compared to the official price of $599.

However, considering the trend of Solana ecosystem projects airdropping to Saga holders, and the fact that Saga users can also profit from mining in addition to airdrops, for lucky buyers who have purchased Saga, HODL may be the better choice.
