The Base mainnet was opened to developers on July 13 and to the public on August 9. Yesterday, this new Layer 2 has recorded more transactions than Arbitrum.
The number of smart contracts deployed on Base is growing rapidly, with over 10,000 new contracts deployed daily, several times the number deployed on Arbitrum and Optimism.
Base's fee margin is positive, meaning that the L2's fee revenue exceeds the batch cost of transactions submitted to the Ethereum mainnet. Base's fee margin reached an astonishing 80% in the initial stage, but gradually decreased to around 20%, similar to other major Layer 2 solutions such as Arbitrum and Optimism.
Base has also launched the Onchain Summer campaign to promote its activities.
