PANews April 26 news, according to CNN reports, the U.S. Department of Justice has charged U.S. Army Special Forces soldier Gannon Ken Van Dyke, accusing him of illegally profiting over $400,000 by betting on the U.S. raid on Venezuela using classified intelligence on the prediction market platform Polymarket. Trump previously stated that the current global situation is "a bit like a casino," suggesting that some market transactions may have deviated from normal investment logic, relying instead on information asymmetry or even insider information, while also emphasizing that he has "never been a firm supporter of these prediction platforms."
However, Trump seems to have changed his attitude towards this matter. Upon learning that the soldier bet on Maduro's downfall, Trump compared the incident to baseball legend Pete Rose betting on his own team's victory, responding in a dismissive manner and stating: "It's like Rose betting on his team to win. If he bets that he loses, then that's bad, but he bets that he wins; I will investigate this matter." Additionally, given Trump's support for Rose, at least several of Trump's allies have stated that Trump should pardon this soldier.
