PANews, April 25 news: US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick confirmed at a congressional hearing that only 1 applicant has been approved for the "Gold Card" visa program launched by the Trump administration. This program, designed as an alternative to the traditional EB-5 investment immigration program, requires foreigners to pay at least 1 million USD to gain legal residency, work qualifications, and ultimately a path to citizenship in the US.
It is worth noting that Lutnick had previously publicly declared that the Gold Card program had sold quotas worth 1.3 billion USD and expected to generate 1 trillion USD in revenue in the future to alleviate the US fiscal deficit. However, at this hearing, he admitted that currently, only 1 person has been formally approved, while several hundred applicants are in the review process.
