The Truth About Missing Bitcoin (Part Two)

At the end of yesterday's sharing, I left a question raised by Brain Master:

Why do the vast majority of people have a mocking and defensive mentality, or in other words, why does each of us have, to some extent, such a mocking and defensive mentality deep within our thoughts?

Brain Master coined a term for the reasons behind this mentality: the poverty trap of a low-trust society.

Let's take the current environment we are in as an example to see where this root comes from.

In our daily lives:

XX scams are rampant, having formed a complete industrial chain.

XX safety issues arise one after another, and we worry about whether the food we eat is safe.

Interpersonal trust is extremely fragile, from personal loans not being repaid to exaggerated advertisements by companies.

In such an environment, for a person to survive, they must learn the following:

First, assume the other party has malicious intent; otherwise, they will be taken advantage of.

Second, question new things; otherwise, they will become a victim.

This forms a defensive mentality in a low-trust society.

In such a society, it is understandable to develop this mentality; otherwise, one would have long been deceived and lost everything.

This mentality can indeed protect individuals, but at the same time, it greatly limits the ceiling of personal development—especially in modern society.

Because in modern society, especially in an era of rapid technological advancement and the emergence of new things, opportunities that can change one's life circumstances increasingly exhibit the following characteristics:

They require people to first invest in trust costs—when new things appear, one must set aside prejudices and explore what they are about; when new companies emerge, one must set aside existing frameworks and try to understand their new business models…

And this fundamentally conflicts with the defensive mentality mentioned above.

When a person from a backward mountain village first steps into a big city and sees others making money from stock investments, their first reaction is: Is this a scam? When they encounter a cooperation opportunity, their first reaction is: Is the other party trying to take advantage of me?

All their intelligence and energy are consumed in defense rather than exploration and construction. Such a person may avoid 97 small pitfalls in their lifetime, but they are very likely to miss three major opportunities that could change their life circumstances. Any one of those three major opportunities could yield returns that exceed the losses from those 97 small pitfalls.

So how can we balance the defensive mentality brought by this society with the opportunities that may change our life circumstances?

Brain Master summarized the following methods:

First, when encountering new things, do not immediately question whether it is a scam; instead, focus on the thing itself and see if its logic holds.

Second, use money that you can afford to lose to experiment. This way, even if you stumble, the losses remain within a controllable risk range. At the same time, use money that you cannot afford to lose as a safety net to ensure our foundation is solid.

Thus, even if there are eight or even nine failures in ten experiments, as long as there is one or two successes, the returns we gain will be sufficient.

Using this set of methods to guide one's practice can bring not only returns but also potentially reset and elevate one's thinking operating system.

Because under controllable risks, being willing to first invest in trust costs allows one to have the fortune to join future unicorn companies, possibly meet future Musk, or potentially buy future Bitcoin.

Compared to low-trust individuals who curl up like hedgehogs in defense, they will grow and expand rapidly like a snowball, gradually breaking free from the poverty trap caused by a low-trust society.

These are the highlights summarized by Brain Master in the video.

In fact, I believe that the defensive mentality of low trust exists not only in our society but also in many high-trust societies. However, the important thing is that in our case, this situation is much more severe, so it requires much more effort to change.

But now, we understand its formation and harm, and we should have the courage to face and reflect on it.

The methods mentioned by Brain Master have also been discussed in my previous articles, but after Brain Master’s profound analysis from the source, the importance of these methods becomes even more prominent and meaningful.

I hope our readers have the opportunity to seriously watch Brain Master’s video, which contains other more exciting but less convenient content to share publicly.

In short, this video allows us to thoroughly understand the flaws in our deep thinking and methods for improvement, which is extremely valuable for enhancing our thinking.
