Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, reminded investors on social media platform X on Aug. 29, 2025, that one of the biggest mistakes in crypto is panic selling. He wrote:
Things to avoid in crypto. Selling the dip.
The post quickly gained traction, drawing over 2 million views. Zhao has frequently returned to this theme in 2025, using his posts to emphasize patience, risk control, and emotional stability during downturns rather than short-term reactions.
His commentary on market behavior has been consistent across the year. He previously stressed the importance of composure, stating: “If you got shaken out during the dip, reduce your size to a level you can handle. Mental stability beats all market volatility.” In March, he added a reminder of personal responsibility during volatility: “Hope you took advantage of the dip. Remember, you make your own decisions and actions.”
Earlier in the year, Zhao tied this long-term perspective to investor mindset, asking his followers: “Have you ever thought to yourself, ‘I wish I had…’ bought bitcoins early, bought the dip, held, learned about crypto early, ignored FUD. But when the opportunity presents itself again, will you act? Today is earlier than all the days to come. Not financial advice.” The Binance founder often linked poor trading decisions to unreliable sources, previously writing: “If you bought the dip because of FUD, you should thank them. If you sold because of it, then unfollow/unsubscribe, report, and block. Don’t keep low quality information sources that makes you poorer. Choice and action are what you can control.”
Zhao’s posts highlight his recurring message that downturns should be viewed as opportunities rather than setbacks. Supporters of this approach note that long-term holders of assets like bitcoin have often benefited by staying committed during periods of weakness. His focus on mindset, risk management, and filtering out low-quality information reflects an effort to guide his audience toward resilience in an unpredictable market.
