Bitcoin (BTC) independent miners miraculously earned $350,000 with a hash power of 2.3 PH.

Another independent Bitcoin miner has just won a jackpot, mining a full Bitcoin block with relatively low-power equipment, earning less than $350,000 in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin historian Pete Rizzo stated that this independent miner "defied astonishing odds" by mining a complete block on Thursday. The administrator of the Bitcoin mining pool CKpool congratulated the lucky miner, adding that they only used 2.3 petahashes to solve this block.

"The probability of a miner of this scale solving a block each day is about 1 in 2,800, or roughly once every 8 years," they said. (That's about a 0.004% chance.)

According to Mempool Space, this miner solved block 903883, receiving a subsidy of 3.173 BTC, worth approximately $349,028.

While the specific specifications of the miner's equipment are unclear, they likely used several older generation ASIC miners capable of producing 2.3 petahashes per second.

Smaller amateur independent miners like Bitaxe Gamma, FutureBit Apollo BTC, or Canaan Avalon Nano 3 can only generate a few terahashes per second.

Even smaller USB miners like NerdMiner Pro v2 can only produce kilohashes per second, making it nearly impossible to win a jackpot on a full block.

To mine a Bitcoin block each month, an independent miner would need around 166,000 TH/s of hash power. This is equivalent to nearly 500 Antminer S21 Hydro devices, with initial investments costing millions of dollars, as reported by Cointelegraph earlier this year.

In February, an independent miner had great success on block 883,181, earning a block reward of 3.125 Bitcoins, worth over $300,000 at the time. It is speculated that this lucky miner may have used Bitaxe.

Another independent miner struck digital gold in early June, successfully mining block 899,826 and receiving a reward worth $330,000, which is even rarer given the record network difficulty.

In independent mining, hash power does not guarantee success, as it is purely a matter of probability. According to SoloChance, an independent miner with 2.3 PH/s of hash power has a success probability of about 1 in 375,300 for each block at the current difficulty.

Meanwhile, the industrial Bitcoin mining output of some major players, including Riot Platforms, Cipher Mining, and MARA Holdings, declined in June.

Several companies strategically scaled back operations in June to avoid high costs during the peak summer demand in Texas.
