Kraken announces it has obtained a MiCA license issued by the Central Bank of Ireland, allowing it to provide compliant cryptocurrency services across the EU.

This license further integrates Kraken into the EU market, paving the way for increased cryptocurrency activity across member states and strengthening regulation.

Bitcoin Soars Amid EU Regulatory Developments

According to CoinMarketCap data on Bitcoin, its current price is $107,820.61, with a market capitalization of approximately $2.14 trillion and a daily trading volume of $51.72 billion. Over the past 90 days, Bitcoin's price has increased by 25.45%; these figures indicate that Bitcoin's market dominance is growing, currently accounting for 64.82% of the market share. This performance suggests that despite ongoing regulatory developments, the market remains significantly resilient.

Following the acquisition of the license, Kraken expects institutional participation to increase, with euro-denominated cryptocurrency trading volume having doubled, now representing 17.5% of its total trading volume. This step aligns with Kraken's previous milestones, including the EMI license in 2023 and the MiFID license in February 2025, which together lay the groundwork for broader market access and compliance.
