Software intelligence firm Microstrategy (Nasdaq: MSTR), which has rebranded as Strategy, announced on June 16 that it has acquired an additional 10,100 bitcoin between June 9 and June 15, using proceeds from recent preferred stock offerings.
According to the company’s filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the total purchase amounted to approximately $1.051 billion at an average price of $104,080 per bitcoin, inclusive of fees and expenses. This latest acquisition brings Strategy’s total bitcoin holdings to 592,100 BTC, acquired at an aggregate purchase price of $41.84 billion, or an average price of $70,666 per coin. Michael Saylor, Strategy’s Executive Chairman and co-founder, emphasized the company’s continued bitcoin strategy on social media platform X, stating:
Strategy has acquired 10,100 BTC for ~$1.05 billion at ~$104,080 per bitcoin and has achieved BTC Yield of 19.1% YTD 2025. As of 6/15/2025, we hodl 592,100 BTC acquired for ~$41.84 billion at ~$70,666 per bitcoin.
The SEC filing also details the financing behind this acquisition. In the week leading up to June 15, the firm raised $78.4 million via at-the-market (ATM) offerings: $45.2 million through 452,487 STRK shares (8.00% Series A Perpetual Strike Preferred Stock) and $28.6 million through 286,101 STRF shares (10.00% Series A Perpetual Strife Preferred Stock). Earlier, on June 10, Strategy completed a public offering of 11,764,700 STRD shares (10.00% Series A Perpetual Stride Preferred Stock), generating net proceeds of approximately $979.7 million.
Saylor remains one of bitcoin’s most vocal advocates. He proclaimed that bitcoin is “engineered to outperform” all other assets and will become the dominant global asset by 2045. He predicts bitcoin could reach $1 million, eventually achieving a $500 trillion market cap—surpassing gold and real estate—and potentially generating up to $81 trillion for the U.S. Treasury. Recently, he said he is even more bullish on his $13 million bitcoin price prediction.
