New York, June 6, 2025 — Heidelberger Beteiligungsholding AG announced a strategic shift, focusing on investments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) going forward. As the first step in this strategic transformation, the company plans to invest 10 million euros in the native token SQD of the rapidly growing decentralized AI data infrastructure protocol.
SQD.AI is one of the fastest-growing decentralized data platform providers globally, founded by Dr. Dmitry Zhelezov and Marcel Fohrmann in 2021. Over the past 12 months, the company has seen revenue growth exceeding 100%, reaching millions of euros, and is regarded as one of the most promising innovative companies in the field of AI agents and Web3 application index data.
The Apeiron Group, led by Christian Angermayer, will become a significant shareholder of Heidelberger Beteiligungsholding AG and will jointly participate in the investment in SQD. The Apeiron Group has long been known for investing in innovative technology companies with breakthrough potential.
As part of this strategic adjustment, the company will soon hold a special shareholders' meeting to propose changing the company name from Heidelberger Beteiligungsholding AG to SQD.AI Strategies AG and amending the company’s articles of association to formally establish the new investment strategic direction. Additionally, Clemens Jakopitsch, who has made substantial investments in SQD on behalf of the Piëch Family Office, is expected to serve as the chairman of the supervisory board. Jakopitsch has extensive experience in private equity investment and the AI field and will play a key role in leading the company's future development.
The company also plans to raise up to 50 million dollars within this year to acquire more SQD tokens, strengthening its strategic layout.
Notably, other holders of SQD tokens include Peter Thiel (through the strategic investment platform of Founders Fund) via investments from Elevat 3 Capital, as well as globally renowned investment institutions such as ZeePrime Capital, Hypersphere, Digital Finance Group, Anthos, Banter Capital, and Blockchange Ventures, further highlighting the project's recognition and appeal among top global technology investors.
