The pioneering blockchain XION, dedicated to reshaping the rules and driving the mainstream adoption of Web3, officially announced today that former Cardano Chief Marketing Officer Adam Bates has joined as its Chief Cult Officer. During his tenure at Input Output (IOHK), Bates led Cardano through its glorious period from 2020 to 2022, and now he will inject new energy into the project filled with "legend and experimental spirit."
Bates will be responsible for accelerating XION's global market expansion and promoting its vision of "making crypto technology invisible." His strategy is to transform XION into a cultural phenomenon. After companies like Uber, BMW, LEGO, and Amazon have achieved Web3 innovation through XION, he will further amplify these early successes to create a larger impact.
"The blockchain industry has been stuck in the geek circle for a decade, self-limiting in a technical trap," Bates said. "XION is the spark I have been looking for. I didn't leave Cardano to build another chain—XION is the real answer, allowing the value of blockchain to integrate into everyone's daily life, transforming from a pile of technical jargon into the invisible backbone of the digital world."
Bates's past achievements are impressive: at Cardano, he led the largest online and offline hybrid crypto event in history; won the title of "Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in the World" from Fast Company; and elevated the Cardano brand beyond Nestlé, BMW, and Bitcoin, ranking in the Top 30 of global brand fan love.
XION founder Anthony Anzalone (also known as Burnt Banksy) stated:
"Adam is a creative monster who not only understands the essence of this industry but also sees the world beyond it. We are not here to play old games; from Burnt Banksy, this company is destined to disrupt everything. XION is the bridge between Web2 and Web3, and Adam is the one who can tell this story loudly."
Before entering the crypto industry, Bates served global giants such as Virgin Atlantic, Barclays Bank, Emirates Airlines, LEGO, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Samsung, and worked as a director at BBDO in London, collaborating with over 300 offices worldwide.
Now, XION is embracing compliance realities, establishing partnerships with numerous Web2 giants, and preparing to lead a new paradigm for the mass adoption of Web3.
