In a new blog post, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has shared his thoughts on three issues core to Ethereum’s decentralization: MEV, liquid staking, and the hardware requirements of nodes. In Buterin’s view, many of the concerns around Ethereum’s centralization can be addressed through smart protocol design and upgrades, some of which are already in progress. 

A U.S. bankruptcy court has approved failed crypto lender Genesis’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan, which will likely see parent company DCG losing big. Gemini, one of Genesis’ creditors, will begin returning the first 97% of owed assets in-kind to customers of its defunct Gemini Earn program by the end of the month, the company announced.

Thomas John Sfraga, also known as “TJ Stone,” allegedly promised investors up to 60% returns in three months for a fake cryptocurrency digital wallet.Sfraga instead pocketed the funds or used the proceeds to pay prior victims.Sfraga also purportedly engaged in fraudulent behavior around crypto staking, claiming it was an “ironclad situation” with “no risk.” He also claimed to own Vandelay Contracting Corp.

House lawmakers will vote on the Republican-led Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act, also known as FIT21. Crypto exchanges Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase, as well as firms like Andreessen Horowitz and Digital Currency Group, signed the letter, among others, in support of the bill.
