Many investors may have only started to pay attention to the Aptos ecosystem this month, but Aptos has already shown signs of takeoff:

-In December 2023, the DEX trading volume on Aptos reached $16.36 million, more than twice the previous week's DEX trading volume.

-On January 12, 2024, AptosLabs data showed that the on-chain transaction volume of Aptos reached 402,498,991 transactions, with an active staking amount of over 920 million APT, and the current total supply of APT on the entire network reached 1,075,294,644.

-In February, DeFi experienced strong growth. According to official Aptos data, TVL surged by over 100% to reach $264 million. The monthly active addresses approached 2 million, and the weekly active addresses doubled.

-As of March 27th, DefiLama data shows that Aptos TVL is $495 million, reaching a historical high.

Below, we will take stock of the top 5 projects in the Aptos ecosystem in terms of TVL (as of March 20th, according to DefiLama data):

Aptos ecological takeoff: Alt L1's new journey after Cancun upgrade

First place Thala

Thala is a stablecoin project on Aptos, with its core products including MOD (over-collateralized stablecoin) and ThalaSwap (AMM, aiming to become the core liquidity layer of Aptos), and providing multiple businesses such as liquidity staking, Launchpad, and more. Its core revolves around two key products: MOD (over-collateralized stablecoin) and ThalaSwap (AMM, dedicated to becoming the core liquidity layer of Aptos), in addition to liquidity staking, Launchpad, and other business categories.

It is worth noting that it recently announced a strategic partnership with OndoFinance, which will introduce tokenized US Treasury bonds USDY to the Aptos chain and integrate them through ThalaLabs. Additionally, according to Aptos Insight, Thala recently integrated cross-chain bridge projects LayerZero Labs and WormHole, expanding the adoption of Aptos and promoting interoperability between different blockchain networks.

Second place AmnisFinance

AmnisFinance, a liquidity staking protocol on Aptos, provides users with a secure, easy-to-use, and innovative liquidity staking solution. Users can easily maximize the yield of APT tokens and unlock liquidity through this protocol.

By issuing amAPT tokens in exchange for APT and allowing users to stake and obtain stAPT tokens, amAPT tokens have independent liquidity pools on PancakeSwap and LiquidSwap, supporting liquidity mining. Wallets holding stAPT tokens will automatically accumulate rewards based on stAPT, which can also be used for lending, staking, liquidity mining, and other purposes. In addition, AmnisFinance also provides various additional reward mechanisms and activities, such as retroactive activities, NFT exchanges, and lotteries, to promote faster growth.

Third place AriesMarket

AriesMarket, launched on the Aptos mainnet in 2022, is a decentralized margin trading protocol in the Move ecosystem. By fully on-chain order books, it enables lightning-fast lending, borrowing, and trading of margins. It supports lending and leveraged spot trading of assets such as USDC, APT, SOL, and others. AriesMarketsTVL has increased by 36.53% in the past 7 days, becoming the project with the highest increase in TVL in the Aptos ecosystem (according to DefiLama data).

Recently, AriesMarket proposed a points reward activity AriesPointProgram, through which lending, staking, and inviting friends can earn points for potential future token airdrops. It is worth mentioning that AmnisFinance stated that users who use their invitation code to deposit/withdraw stAPT and amAPT during the activity period will receive 1.2 times the points.

Fourth place LiquidSwap

Liquidswap is an automatic market maker/AMM built on AptosL1 by PontemNetwork, and is currently the largest market maker project on Aptos, with stable project progress. Liquidswap can support regular unstable trades (similar to Uniswap) and stable trades (similar to Curve). When users exchange between USDT and USDC, it will use stable trading mode and different liquidity curves to minimize slippage.

Fifth place CellanaFinance

As the project with the fastest TVL growth on Aptos in the past week, CellanaFinance is also worth paying attention to. Cellana is the first innovative DEX to use the Ve(3,3) model on Aptos and MoveLanguage. After receiving a grant from the Aptos Foundation in February this year, it has been vigorously developing its team. The mainnet is now live.

In addition to the above projects, the Aptos ecosystem continues to expand in new directions.

After partnering with Pantom, Aptos continues to deepen its focus on DeFi. The collaboration's wallet, Pontem, has been launched on the official Huawei store, becoming the first Aptos ecosystem wallet to be launched on the Huawei official store.

Meanwhile, in the Meme trend on Solana, the AptosMeme community coin GUI broke through $0.00006 on March 16, with a 24-hour increase of 78.0%.

In the GameFi field, AptosLabs announced a collaboration with game studio SuperVLabs to launch Aptos metaverse game Supervillain: IdleRPG on the X platform. NFTs such as AptosMonkeys, Aptomingos, and BruhBears will be able to join as game characters. In the gaming aspect, SipervillainLabs, Castile, and others are also worth paying attention to.

In emerging markets such as AI, Aptos is actively exploring the integration of artificial intelligence and blockchain. It has partnered with Microsoft to launch tools like Aptos Assistant. They are also developing AI-driven DeFi projects, such as SwapGPT. Recently, Aptos participated in a $30 million financing round for io.net and partnered with Jambo to enter new markets, bringing new opportunities for their promotion in these regions.

At the same time, the Aptos Foundation has established partnerships with multiple data integration providers such as Dune, Nansen, Space&Time, TokenTerminal, DappRadar, Elliptic, TheTie, and Flipside, to provide comprehensive data integration services for users and developers building on Aptos. In addition, the Aptos Foundation has disclosed data showing that the total number of addresses created on the Aptos chain has exceeded 10 million.

Supporting points behind the impressive data achievements

Aptos, originally intended for "The People," also reflects the vision given by its team: to create universal and fair opportunities for billions of people to access decentralized assets. The Web3 stack is very large and rich, ranging from smart contract platforms to developer infrastructure and tools, wallets, and decentralized applications.

Background

Since its official exposure in February 2022, Aptos has continued to attract market attention due to its team's background from Facebook. With the "halo effect of a star-studded team," capital has thrown out high olive branches. In March 2022, it completed a $200 million seed round of financing, followed by a $150 million Series A round in July of the same year, with participation from well-known investment institutions in the industry including a16z, Coinbase Ventures, Paypal, and Binance Labs.

Performance and Technology

Aptos' technical development path mainly focuses on two aspects: performance optimization and on-chain feature exploration.

In terms of performance improvement, it aims to achieve a user experience similar to Web2, including high TPS, low latency, and low cost. In terms of technical architecture, Aptos continues to introduce new features to achieve this goal through continuous engineering optimization. For example, in terms of consensus mechanism, Aptos has gone through several iterations from initially using the HotstuffBFT consensus (3500 TPS) to upcoming implementation of the Shoal consensus to increase TPS. Additionally, Aptos has adopted a parallel execution engine called Block-STM, based on optimistic concurrency and multi-version data structures, to shift transaction processing from traditional sequential processing to parallel processing, thereby improving the speed of blockchain transactions.

Furthermore, Aptos continues to explore on-chain features to provide more diverse and efficient functionalities. For example, through the Aggregators feature proposed by AIP-47, Aptos has achieved parallel execution of smart contracts in the presence of read-write conflicts, significantly improving the efficiency of limited asset minting. In addition, Aptos' latest on-chain random number technology uses an innovative weighted cryptography scheme, making random number generation more secure and efficient. These technological explorations not only enhance the performance of Aptos but also provide users with richer functionalities and a better user experience.

MOVE Language

Move is a bytecode language inspired by Rust, created by the Diem and Novi teams, aimed at providing a more flexible and secure solution than Solidity and other Web3 programming languages. It eliminates attack vectors present in Solidity and EVM, such as reentrancy attacks and asset duplication issues, through enforced data abstraction and built-in protection features.

Security

Aptos provides a more secure and user-friendly blockchain experience through flexible key management, transparent transaction pre-execution, transaction protection measures, and light client support.

Community and Development

1. Supporting the construction of the Aptos community for developers

For developers, Aptos has established multiple systems. First is the learning system, which has launched the interactive learning tool AptosLearn to help users gain a deeper understanding of Aptos. Aptos continuously updates its documentation and improves it based on user feedback. It also regularly holds hackathon events to provide engineers with opportunities for skill enhancement. Core team members also personally guide developers, address their issues in smart contract development, and provide suggestions. In addition, the AptosImprovementProposals channel has been set up to accept suggestions from the user and developer community for product improvements, including standards and development frameworks.

2. Actively exploring Web2 channels - developing more users

Through collaboration with Microsoft, Aptos is attempting to combine AI with Web3 products, exploring areas that begin development on the timelines of both Web2 and Web3. It considers what kind of products and forms can provide services to the ultimate ToB and ToC users from both Web2 and Web3 perspectives.

In addition, it is expanding into the gaming track, bringing Web2 game users into Web3 and allowing users to participate in the entire game economy system through a more sustainable token economy system, enabling users to not only enjoy the game but also participate in the token economy system.

3. Ecosystem incentive system - encouraging more projects to participate

Aptos has various sponsorship programs, including AptosGrantProgram, AptosArtistGrantsProgram, TheRegistry, and AptosCollective, aimed at supporting development in different fields. In October last year, Aptos announced that it had distributed over $6 million in sponsorships.

In addition to sponsorship programs, the Aptos ecosystem will continue to hold hackathon events in 2024. In March, the Aptos hackathon will be held in Shenzhen. In April, the conference in Hong Kong, the upcoming GDC in Silicon Valley, TNC in Japan, Token2049 in Dubai, and the summit in September in Korea.

Conclusion

In the L1 track, Aptos is regaining the attention it had at the beginning of its launch, and the on-chain ecosystem is returning to a prosperous state. Its next steps are worth looking forward to.
